“Keep your eyes wide open before marriage, half shut afterwards.” —Ben Franklin

Ha, I live this quote almost every day. I dated my wife for a very long time before I decided to ask her to marry me. I knew her very well and when I finally landed a solid job, we got married. My eyes were wide open, but once you put that ring on each other’s fingers, then you really start to get to know your spouse.

Most of what I’ve learned has been very positive and the same for my wife, however, we’ve also learned we have things to work on to become better human beings and spouses. There are times where we both need to have our eyes half shut meaning…we need to overlook those idiosyncrasies that can drive us both nuts. There are some things you just can’t change about your spouse. You must accept them and love them anyways.

I have found a successful marriage/relationship are based on solid communication and trust as well as the ability to forgive quickly.

Colossians 3:13

Be careful out there!
