Do you always expect to be treated fairly in this life?

Ah, no. I was babysitting my granddaughters a few days ago and one of them was playing with a favorite toy. When the other granddaughter walked over to play, her sister pushed her hand away and took the toy away from her. Of course, crying ensued and then Dad took the toy away from the one who wouldn’t share and more crying ensued. They are learning how to share.

From an early age we start to learn that life is not fair.

When someone mistreats you, it is an opportunity to learn the lesson of grace. An opportunity to see how quickly you can forgive the person who has mistreated you. We shouldn’t be focused on getting even. Instead of obsessing over how others treat you or see you, we should focus on how our Creator treats us and sees us, for it is His opinion that matters most.

As we get closer to our Creator, we get closer to being the person He meant us to be. If we have accepted his free gift of forgiveness, we are more inclined to forgive others. He has treated us more than fairly.

Be careful out there!

Matthew 18:21-22
