"My pain may be the reason for somebody's laugh. But my laugh must never be the reason for somebody's pain." - Charlie Chaplin

Ouch! The German language has a word for taking pleasure in someone else pain, it is… schadenfreude. I wish I could go back in time and stop myself from laughing at classmates when I was in elementary school and high school. A few times I joined my peers in laughing at someone who was different. One of my biggest regrets in my life.

I can’t imagine what school must be like with kids having access to social media/texting, etc., the cyber bullying explosion is all over the news. With two granddaughters not even 2 years old yet, I am concerned about how they will be treated when they are in school.

I think this is why it’s important to instill a great sense of self-worth into our children and grandchildren, if they know they are loved unconditionally, hopefully when the bullies strike, they will be well armed with the knowledge that they don’t need to worry about what others think of them. And hopefully they will inherit their parents’ faith to know that even if the world treats them unfairly, that our Creator loves them unconditionally and take comfort in that fact.

The gift of encouragement is a great one to pass on to others!

Bless you all!

P.S. Laughing at Aggy’s misfortune is one exception to the above, j/k, sort of., right Mrs. T.?
