UT/SC We can beat SC this year. There will be more to come as we get closer to the game.

TCU/tOSU I don't think the frogs have a chance but it will be interesting to see if there are distractions at tOSU. If so well maybe TCU has a chance.

ISU/IA When you look at who these teams beat last year this will be an interesting contest. I will watch this game.

Honorable mention

Boise State/OSU people are picking Boise to get to an NY6 bowl. For 2 years Bryan Harsin was one of us and I will pull for him to get it done.

Btw TX and WV are the only two Big XII teams to play two P5 schools.

Actually, not many were giving OU a chance against tOSU last year and OU took it to them. Beat them handily. I thing TCU gives them all they can handle. TCU loves some early season upsets, ask the Sooners.

This sets up well for us if we can beat TCU. If TCU wins or keeps it close against tOSU, it will look good for us.

Under the radar game....Miss State at KState....bulldogs better not overlook this one...

Unfortunately for TCU, Gary Patterson has decided to fit in the Big 12 by playing Big 12 defense. His teams used to be known for good, sound, fundamental defense not so much anymore imo. He had 2 shots at OU last year with a lot on the line and the 2nd beating his team took was as bad as the first.

I don't agree with this take at all. Nothing has changed with Gary. TCU had a dam_ good defense last year and the advanced stats backed it up.

OU had by far the best offense in the country with a Heisman winner at QB. ANY defense will struggle. Georgia didn't do any better than TCU did and they were supposed to be monstrous on D.

Drop off just a little bit and OU will find itself getting beat again by TCU.

TCU’s dline was average at best. That long haired scrub of a DE they bragged about it was a joke. If you think Patterson is fielding the same stout defense he did say 5 or 6 years ago then I don’t know what to tell you. Further, Georgia got exposed just like TCU did. OU ran all over Georgia. Good OU offense but those defenses were not dominant at all.

Beat again? Are you saying that like it has been a pattern in the past or are you implying the obvious that anyone can beat anyone on any given day? Of course they can but TCU is not some powerhouse nor do they have OU’s number. Exactly the opposite in both points imo.

...except when up 7 pts with the ball with 3.5 minutes left in the game. Or in 2 overtimes...

You know, when it mattered.
OU running all over Georgia was not supposed to happen. We knew OU’s defense was bad. I’ll pin that loss on Riley as much as anyone. Say what you want, Georgia had absolutely no idea how to stop OU in the first half, why they came out with a laid back offensive game plan in the second half, who knows. Georgia won though, no doubt.

The Big 12 has a weak non conference schedule. Kudes to Texas and TCU for stepping up. I can only imagine the $ec. non con schedule Portland State, Barbados, Mexico City soccer, etc....

Did the 1st half not matter?
Sure. But when it was nut cutting time and after one of the coaches made adjustments, OU couldn't run the ball. You said OU ran all over them. Again, not. when. it. really mattered (i.e. the game was on the line).

Getting back to the thread. I'm really looking forward to ISU/IA. For the first time ISU is worth paying attention to. Last year they beat OK, TCU and won the Liberty Bowl a respectable bowl game. But they had a senior dominated team so can they build on that? I have a high opinion of Matt Campbell their hc and I think they can. And IA beat the stone cold h*** out of the enablers last year. Like I said a game definitely worth watching.

Man, the Sooners are getting arrogant. Fellas, nothing lasts forever. Aggy is arrogant but that's the IQ talking.

I doubt that it will happen but if by chance OK loses one of their non con games especially Army I'm going to laugh.

Florida Atlantic is a better team than most will give credit for. I bet that will end up being a better game than people think
They run up big scores against inferior talent. They lose Briles. This is my 5 star lock of the week.- Sooners cover 21. Pay for your Christmas in September.

Why do you think Applewhite hired Briles? There's only a few student trainers. Briles will open up the field for Applewhite, so to speak.

Then you don’t know what to tell me. 5-6 years ago TCU was playing in the Mountain West, not in the top offensive conference in all of college football week in week out.

Applewhite's wheelhouse doesn't require a lot of effort.

Exactly, now they're Big 12 good, what don't you get? Do you hear anyone brag about TCU's defense anymore? nope

OU-UCLA will be a good “name” game. Both teams have good history. Not sure how much Chip Kelly can do in his short time there, but you’d have to think OU can win this relatively easily.

Belldozer, TCU still has a good defense. They were ranked 19th which is solid by any measure. I browsed thru those stats not to long ago. And those that were ranked high did not have to face guys like Baker Mayfield, Bryce Love, or Saquon Barkley. WA in the FB against PS was a perfect example. They sure didn't play like a top ten defense in that game that's for sure. The point I'm trying to make is unless I see a defense play at least two games against players like i mentioned above then I can't say for sure how good they really are
