Urban Meyer said no thanks?

I live 30 minutes from Malibu so I'm quite familiar with the scene. My avatar is not me but it is a patriot holding the flag underneath the Manhattan Beach Pier during the early covid shutdowns.
You're right. The environment and views are to die for. From the 101 take Kanan Rd through the mountains to Malibu and you won't believe you're in the LA metro area. Just beautiful.
Malibu to USC is about 45 minutes. He could also live in Pacific Palisades or Manhattan Beach to shave 15-20 minutes off the commute if he wanted. Many pro athletes and coaches live in Manhattan Beach.
The USC folks are a different breed. They're so laid back one might think they don't care about winning. They do. The alumni hate Helton and want him gone. Something to keep an eye out on is the USC AD. Mike Bohn came to USC from Cincinnati; there could be common OH ties. I hope I'm right but I just don't see a Ohio high-strung mentality having the patience with laid-back USC folks - oil and water.
But, as Clob correctly noted, the stress would be lower at USC and I can personally attest to the fact that the fantastic weather has had a positive impact on my physical heath and well being.
We'll see.
When are you guys going to revolt against the socialists running LA county and the state of Cali ? The lockdowns and quarantines you guys have are what the US is looking at if the dems win both senate seats.

No mask for me as I'm the one actually following the science (99.6% recovery rate). I don't follow the "fake science" presented by the "fake news". I'm posting while wearing a shirt with "FREEDOM" emblazoned across the chest.

Sorry MM. I had to respond.

As much as I hope we can land Meyer, I have my doubts because of the toxic SJW culture on campus that's poisoned our great university. Too much PC causing a lot of division in the athletics department and the administration. Along with the expectations from fans and donors to consistently contend for national championships. The stress and pressure for him to come in and save our program would be enormous. He left OSU partly for these types of reasons so why would he and his family want to go through that again? I hope I'm wrong.

If we can't get Meyer I believe we need to pursue an NFL coach. No more up and coming posers like Herman. A guy like Jon Gruden or even Sean McVay.

I’m on the front lines of the resistance. The lower and middle classes are being decimated by the lockdowns. They’re growing frustrated by the mayor and governor — all socialist hypocrites. I don’t know what the masses will do. I have the flexibility to leave. You’re correct BCH, I’m seeing firsthand what the country will look like if GA is lost. To give you an idea: although I live in LA county, it’s as if I’m living under Chinese rule. It won’t be the US as we knew it.

If this is the case, we're screwed if UM actually says no.

Yep, and that is why they will eventually can Herman. I think they will bring in a Texas loyalist like Major Applewhite and start dropping the bags. The tell on this will be when they hire a Texas loyalist. A coach that is not on everyone's list that will clean house and run a tight ship. He will come at a discount and then bombs away.

This goes against conventional wisdom but is much less expensive than paying 100mm to a coach that may not want to be here.

Is there any successful NFL coaches not currently coaching? Maybe Jimmy Johnson would be willing to come out of retirement. He is only 77.

In all honesty I'd throw that 12 million check at Sean Payton and John Harbaugh see if they can be money whipped. Really this is getting sad, we have companies deemed to big to fail, well Texas seems to be too big to succeed.

Maybe we should try and get Vladamir Putin he seems to do pretty well running the largest country in the world, anyone know what type of offense he runs?

When are you guys going to stop ruining every thread with your awful political posts?
“Awful” is subjective. These unprecedented times in which we are living touch every aspect of our lives. It’s arguable whether posts on science or Constitutional rights are political posts.
MM does an incredible job keeping things reigned in while recognizing we are living in unprecedented times.
Although we don’t have the great James Woods’ famous Twitter response (INSTABLOCK) available to us, you do have unfollow available.

Send some Colombian Narcos guys to get him for us, throw him in the trunk and put a hood over his head and then take it off and say welcome to Texas!...LOL

Wow Urban was a little irritated with his co-host alluding to him leaving. Did anyone else see college gameday when UM said that's 3 times.

I'm afraid CDC will have no choice but to retain TH if we strike out wiUM.

If we decide to fire TH with no UM as the replacement there will be a flood of transfers and decommitments. It won't matter if we get Cristobal or Franklin or whoever. That will set us back a lot more than just keeping TH until another elite coach becomes available.

you nailed it.

I’ve said this in other threads but an NFL coach I think might actually be getable who I think would recruit well and has the personality to deal with the BS.

Sean McVay. Reportedly he had discussions with ESPN last year about joining the MNF booth. He seems to understand that the Rams aren’t his one and only stop in his coaching career and open to hearing other options. I think if you put a 10-12 million dollar offer on the table he listens

There's always a choice!

Not really. There is likely to be a lot of transfers even if Herman stays.
There's always transfers of fringe players and 2nd and 3rd stringers. I'm talking about guys like Whittington, Jake Smith, Alfred Collins, Joshua Moore, etc. We would see key players that were recruited by TH who would certainly consider transferring to a school that is competing for a championship.

Jake Smith has been in the transfer rumors for a couple years now. There was damn near a mutiny on Tom Herman last year. I don’t think Tom Herman getting fired is going to hurt many guys feelings.

This was kinda funny and UM looked a little irritated.

So you live anywhere near here?

This just encapsulates the hypocrisy that is the leadership and group think in California. Rules for me but not for Hollywood.

Yep, I'm close to this bar in Sherman Oaks. I'm in a conservative enclave, which is the only way I can deal with the hypocrisy on a day to day basis. That and frequent 45 minute trips to Orange County, another conservative hot bed.
The lower and middle classes in LA are being decimated by the hypocritical, arbitrary policies. It's fast becoming the elite, ruling class and the lower economic classes, which is exactly what the Mayor and Governor want: to decimate the populace and have them dependent on the government. Control. That's why the left is requesting state and local relief as part of the federal covid relief bill . . . to provide some dependency payment to the populace that they are directly harming through their own arbitrary shutdown policies.
Natural question is "why do people put up with it?" About 30% of LA residents are first generation immigrants (Asia and Central America primarily). These immigrants have grown up in dictatorial systems so in many ways this isn't any different to what they're accustomed. They're the perfect populace for submission. Others (like the bar owner) are quickly tiring of the hypocrisy.

It never made sense to me why the power brokers want their serfs to be poor. It makes no sense. You can take more from them if they have some money. If they are broke as sh!t, you can't take from them. And if you try and take something from someone that has nothing to give up, that's when the torches a pitch forks come out. Just ask Marie Antoinette.
I'll also never understand how politicians talk about supporting middle class but then destroy their small businesses with sh!t like this. Sorry small business owner, you can't be open--- but an identical place owned by a Hollywood studio can be open---- right next door to your place.

I think it boils down to this---- the people in power see all of us as just fvcking stupid dolts that have to be told what to do 24/7--- and the powerful people live behind their walled homes with armed security guards and they don't FEAR anything anymore. It's like law enforcement wasn't created to protect us from each other, but instead to protect the powerful from US. One day if we rise up and start clipping these fvckers, they hope law enforcement steps in and saves them.

I've got some bad news for them.
