I am very concerned about this game. It will be easy for us to stumble here. Without a proven running game and a staff that is committed to the running game, we could easliy lose this one. This was supposed to be a win for us at least most penciled it in.... I am not confident in this team atm. USC was a nice defensive effort but can we maintain the effort especially against the spread?

Any word on who is starting QB? If it's Shane I think that will help us out in the run game. USC stacked the box because they wanted to test the freshman QB to throw and make mistakes. I don't think Iowa St. will do that if Shane is QB. If they do I think Shane will complete some passes and make them fall back. I don't know much about the ISU secondary but I doubt they have the DBs to keep up with some of our receivers. Although Sam did impress me with some of his throws, so I'm good with whoever starts.

I am concerned that the players are more preoccupied with taking a knee rather than playing the game. Are we prepared to go cold turkey and turn our backs? If TH is smart, he will utter the phrase, "revoking of scholarship".

Shane flutters his deep outs. They can go man and add one to the box.

They both will play from here out and you will see them run the QB more as well knowing that the backup can get in the game and do work.

ISU is likely the third easiest win percentage wise left on our schedule.

This is a team Texas beats 90% of the time, regardless. I don't see them losing on Thursday.

I'm concerned about this game too. This is one of the best Iowa State teams in a long time. They should have beaten Iowa, but gave it away at the end. They will be jacked to the rafters for this game. Texas had better bring their A-game on Thursday night.

That's what worries me, they have the under dog mentality and we seem to choke in games we expect to win.

Jacob Park is turning himself into the best ISU QB since Seneca Wallace. ISU has one of the better WR groups in the league, so the Clones offense will pose some problems, and Park has only been sacked once in 3 games. Pass protection was their forte last year and appears to be a strength again this season.

ISU has been somewhat stout up front against the run, but they have given up an incredible amount of 3rd down conversions through the air. The corner position has certainly been their weakness.

ISU has some holes here and there, but they are a fairly well rounded squad that doesn't feel like they will many crap the bed type games this year. I don't think ISU wins 24-0,(haha), but that this will go down to the wire.

On paper, UT should win. But, without any research, it seems that ISU always pulls an upset a year at night (see No. 2 OSU a couple of years ago). This one will require maximum concentration and attention. Never forget - UT is the biggest game on every team's schedule - Ames will be on fire.

ISU is 10-4 in its 14 Thursday night games in Ames.

Everyone dreads Thursday night games in Ames!

So, the first win versus Texas that ISU was able to put together was in 2010 at DKR, guess who the OC was.

Yeah I don't see us blowing anybody out except maybe Kansas. Our offense is still pretty anemic.

I'll roll you one better MM.

Not only should they have beaten iowa, they HAD them beaten. Physically beaten. Clearly.

That same iowa team PUNISHED Penn st and the best running back in the country a couple weeks later. Yes, Barkley got his yards, and Penn st got the win, but they were out played.

Both were home games... This is going to be a war!

I totally missed what you were asking. I said to myself who doesn't know who are effing OC was in 2010.

Im still lost here... Davis WAS the OC, and I dont think he and Herman are alike in very many ways at all.... lmfao, so what am I missing here?

Tom Herman was the OC for Iowa State when they beat Texas for the first time in 2010 at DKR.

End game: TH knows the culture of ISU, this road trip is nothing new to him, neither is this game.
