First of all let's throw out the "QE is being offered $4 million by an unnamed B10 school to play one more season" - because if that's true...take the money and run young fella! Otherwise...go to the NFL
I've heard/seen various "experts" talk about QE from 1st to 3rd round draft pick. If that's truly the case then he needs to get to the draft asap.
1. Another year in college could mean another year of getting hurt and missing games
2. 1st round draft picks are 4-years between $12 and $38 million (according to some website that seems to know)
3. 2nd round 3-year between $6 and $9 million
4. 3rd round 3-year between $5 and $6 million
I don't know QE's financial situation but I would assume that he's made good NIL and advertising $$$ that he should already have a few bucks in the bank. So he's not in dire need of a quick payday IMO.
He's not coming back to the 40 Acres...that's pretty much been established and everyone knows it
Where would he go that wouldn't appear to NFL coaches and scouts that he's just running from competition (or losing out to Arch) in the NCAA? Ohio St? Oregon? Ole Miss?
I can't think of any other program out there that could boast a better and more accomplished QB developer and play caller than Sark. So if QE were to go to another program he couldn't say "I just wanted more time to hone my skill. Because if that were the case, he'd stay at Texas and battle it out with Arch (and we all know who would win that one).
If he says "I wanted to play with elite WRs and talent" - there again, why would be leave Texas bc he has the best if not top 3-5 level talent in all skill positions on offense.
So the only statement he could give is "well I want the money and I'm not good enough for the NFL" - well if he's truly not good enough for NFL - then what is one more year really going to serve? He's got potential to be a solid back-up QB for long time in NFL IMO...therefore he really has no valid choice other than 1) I'm not good enough 2) I didn't want to face reality of true QB competition or 3) I needed the money
Hopefully he stays as healthy as possible and has a long run in Playoffs and we can all wish him well and be proud of another Longhorn being drafted in first few rounds...it's a slow real estate Friday...what can I say
