I don't see any way Sam comes back in this scenario.
Conner is a really good player. I think he will get a shot a RT to start, but as you mentioned, Hand loves to cross-train these guys, and considering that Isaiah Hookfin is looking to be a pretty damn substantial piece of the 2020 puzzle at guard, I'm done projecting any player as a "pure tackle" prospect under Hand when they have any inkling of a skillset that could possibly translate to guard. It will depend on how the roster shapes up around him.
@Anwar Richardson has been trying to chase down some notes just like the rest of us and we'll try to have some updates in the War Room tonight, but I personally feel like it is crazy to imagine Eagles losing a starting job to any combo that contains Marcus Washington, and frankly Tarik Black. There has to be something more to this. As for Jalen Green, I think he's more like running third and battling for a starting spot like I've always projected. Guys like Watson will get some run because they really like him, but these camp moves and rumors are like a flat circle -- very often, you eventually you usually get back to where you started. That's how I see this playing out with Green. Maybe we have a platoon at corner once again this year. lt's not like Texas has had two set-in-stone starting corners for either of the last two seasons.
Think back to when Green and Cook committed, then imagine we'd be talking about them like this as juniors -- one battling to start, one bumped down to nickel and likely to back up a less-heralded (as a recruit) sophomore. Wild.
Hmm, well to be fair, I am not a life-long fan of Texas like many of you. I didn't start caring about Texas football until I started college here in the late 1990s. My family all went to Rice, so I grew up thinking college football sucks. We were truly much more of an NFL family despite living in Western Travis County pretty close to UT.
With that said, I know that Earl has to be on the list. Ricky of course. Other than them, Jamaal Charles, Cedric Benson and I think D'Onta Foreman has to be in your Top 5 also, he won the Doak Walker Award as the best RB in the nation. Some of the olds may have some other names from the 60s or something, but I think that is the list.
Thanks man, I feel great but I didn't go anywhere. Went on the lake a bunch which feels like a vacation to me, though. Spent most of the last week rebuilding a wooden retaining wall and running a new french drain behind it. It was a little bit of a mistake to start that project in the 107-degree heat, but I got it done probably saved myself $3-4K that a landscaper would have charged.
No and No. I'm sure he improved some because he was getting some run with the twos but he needed to improve a lot more than I've seen a lot of people on here surmise. I realize that some other site has been crowing about his upside, but it's easy to crow about upside in big, developmental linemen. Tyler's feet and balance needed major work. If he were to contribute in 2020, it would have meant things had gone terribly sideways and we'd have much bigger things to worry about than one lost lineman for the year.
Doesn't it feel like Conner would have been the true canary in the coal mine here? I think the farther we get away from the decommit timing-wise, the less the chance that there will be subsequent decommits as a direct result. I don't know how the class "finishes strong" -- maybe we should define strong. I think if we're looking to get high on recruiting Kool-Aid in the near future, we may need to peg our focus on 2022. Jalen Milroe was a kick-in-the-nuts kind of loss. One that fans can absorb knowing he is bookended by studs in Ewers and Card, but also one you could see those same fans lamenting with epic tilt should Milroe be on their TVs leading Bama to some kind of CFP berth in the future.
TBH, I'm nowhere near done with it yet. I have never even seen the guy live. Based on the film I've been able to see from games and from recent practices, color me extremely impressed. As always, I feel like QB evals are tricky and I'll be the first to admit I feel a little like a fish out of water acting like I know everything about a throwing motion and the body mechanics associated. It is extremely complicated and, like defensive back and kicker/punter, I've never played or been around coaches who taught those positions. However, it doesn't take a Trent Dilfer QB-whisperer to recognize truly elite arm talent and Ewers has it. He has all the looks of an absolute thoroughbred blue-chip from a physical standpoint and throws with timing and anticipation well beyond his years. The fact that Yurcich was seemingly willing to risk (and ultimately lose) Milroe in order to land Ewers should let you know 1) how strongly the staff feels about Ewers and 2) what Yurcich ultimately prizes the most in his potential pupils.
Sam - 3900 passing, 500 rushing
Eagles - 800 receiving
Jake Smith - 900 receiving
Keontay Ingram - 850 scrimmage
Bijan Robinson - 1000 scrimmage
I might need to just to put food on the table.
1) CFB - 10; very hyped to see how this season plays out with football being played down south.
2) Fantasy Football - 11, always. My number one passion in sports.
3) The Election - one day I'll be free of restrictions to speak my mind on this stuff, but not today, Satan!
4) Fried Egg on a burger - 5, I think it is great in many applications, but would never do it on a backyard or fast food burger. Fancy restaurant only.
5) Aliens showing up - 0, they have been showing up.
6) Michael Keaton returns as Batman - 0, how old is that guy? He should be the butler by now.
I didn't plant any last spring, and haven't since I moved out of Austin. I live in the Hill Country area now where the deer would murder them and the soil isn't as good as it was in my once-lovely old East Austin neighborhood. During the pandemic, I did build a walkway down to an area of my property to where I built an enclosed and reinforced set of raised beds that I have been using for compost-in-place until next spring when the raised beds will be full of super dank compost at which point I'll put in a full crop. I'm going to try two fall tomatoes here in the next month or so just for the hell of it in the smallest planter. I'll be able to finally once again give tomato crop updates soon.
Regardless of "style," based on what I've seen, I'd want Wheaton and I don't care about cockamamie 2022 possibilities. You can't make critical decisions based on the whims of what a 16-year old might do next year.
I'm not going to say 2 weeks even though I want to. Things are moving toward normal as we speak, though. Things are miles "more normal" now than they were even in July. I think we'll be a lot closer by late-winter, early spring. I think the week that I attend Senior Bowl practices in late January will be the week that things begin to feel totally normal again. And what a week that will be, especially given so many B1G and PAC players will need it badly.

As for Johnson, I really just don't know, man. You'd think he has every shot, I just wonder why he has started out seemingly in a position behind Hookfin. I did have Johnson rated higher as a prospect and still think he probably has the greatest upside of that young bunch, so I'd give it a chance of happening, but I'm (I think rightfully) not as confident of that outcome as I was prior to the start of fall camp.

Assuming the eligibility rule passes this year and also assuming the Big 12 plays the entire season, does sam come back for a 5th year in your opinion?
This essentially makes the entire 2020 class 2021 recruits as that’s when their clock starts so maybe the perfect gap between a QB competition with Card and Ewers in 2022
I don't see any way Sam comes back in this scenario.
Realistically what position do you project Hayden Conner to end up at on the OL? He's a tackle in HS and I know Coach Hand likes to cross train on multiple positions. Does he stick at tackle?
Conner is a really good player. I think he will get a shot a RT to start, but as you mentioned, Hand loves to cross-train these guys, and considering that Isaiah Hookfin is looking to be a pretty damn substantial piece of the 2020 puzzle at guard, I'm done projecting any player as a "pure tackle" prospect under Hand when they have any inkling of a skillset that could possibly translate to guard. Is Eagles going to lose his starting job to some combo Washington and Black? Is Jalen Green really running 4th right now?
@Anwar Richardson has been trying to chase down some notes just like the rest of us and we'll try to have some updates in the War Room tonight, but I personally feel like it is crazy to imagine Eagles losing a starting job to any combo that contains Marcus Washington, and frankly Tarik Black. Alex, was arguing the other day with friends about who were the greatest ‘Horn running backs after Earl and Ricky. I won’t potentially bias you with our final list, but who would be in your top five or so?
Hmm, well to be fair, I am not a life-long fan of Texas like many of you. I didn't start caring about Texas football until I started college here in the late 1990s. My family all went to Rice, so I grew up thinking college football sucks. We were truly much more of an NFL family despite living in Western Travis County pretty close to UT.

Where did you go)what did you do on vacation? Hopefully you are refreshed, relaxed and ready for the fall season (what ever becomes of it). Welcome back sir!
Did you expect Willie Tyler to be a significant back up player this season? Is he a bigger loss than we think?
Do we lose any other 2021 recruits due to Milroe flipping to Alabama? How best to hold on to the recruits this class and finish strong?
Doesn't it feel like Conner would have been the true canary in the coal mine here? I think the farther we get away from the decommit timing-wise, the less the chance that there will be subsequent decommits as a direct result. Alex, let's hear your Quinn Ewers evaluation.
Give me your best guess on stats for yardage and touchdowns for these players:
Sam Ehlinger (rushing and passing)
Brennan Eagles
Jake Smith
Keontay Ingram
Bijan Robinson
Sam - 3900 passing, 500 rushing
Eagles - 800 receiving
Jake Smith - 900 receiving
Keontay Ingram - 850 scrimmage
Bijan Robinson - 1000 scrimmage
If the season does end up cancelled, will you be making a pilgrimage to Galveston for the flounder run?
I might need to just to put food on the table.
Considering all the stuff, where is your enthusiasm level (1-10) regarding the following:
1) CFB
2) Fantasy Football
3) The Election
4) Fried Egg on a burger
5) Aliens showing up
6) Michael Keaton returns as Batman
1) CFB - 10; very hyped to see how this season plays out with football being played down south.
2) Fantasy Football - 11, always. My number one passion in sports.

How did your tomatoes do this summer? Which varieties did you plant?
I didn't plant any last spring, and haven't since I moved out of Austin. Stylistically, who fits best in the RB room: Wheaton or LJ? Does your answer change if you know we land Blue in '22?
Regardless of "style," based on what I've seen, I'd want Wheaton and I don't care about cockamamie 2022 possibilities. You can't make critical decisions based on the whims of what a 16-year old might do next year.
At what point does everything return to normal in your opinion?

If you could sacrifice one mod to end covid, which mod would it be and why would you pick ketch?
Does Tyler Johnson end up starting by the end of the year?
