Fresno State has appeared in 6 NCAA tournaments EVER. The last appearance being with RT at the helm in 2016. They have won 5 conference tournaments EVER. The last one being with RT at the helm in 2016. Over his last 3 seasons at FSU he went 66-34 - a win percentage of .666. In the 5 seasons since he left, FSU has a win percentage of .523, and 3 seasons at or below .500, without even smelling a NCAA tournament appearance.

He spent 3 seasons at UTEP and took over a team that was 11-20 the year before he arrived. His final 2 seasons, while not necessarily good were both above .500. In the 2 seasons since he left, UTEP (now led by the mighty Joe Golding, who OB might remember as the coach who dismantled Shaka Smart’s final Texas team in the NCAA tournament as a 14 seed) has a win percentage of .515. UTEP has also not won a tournament game since 1992.

I say all of this to put to rest this myth that has been pushed on OB that Rodney Terry has somehow not found success previously as a head coach. He’s coached at 2 places that are extremely hard to win at in this day and age, and quite frankly his tenure at Fresno State should be viewed as a success since they haven’t come close to reaching the heights they did in his final 3 seasons there, and had rarely ever reached those heights prior to his tenure. We are watching our team play at a level we haven’t seen since 2003, and they have a real shot to exceed what that 2003 team accomplished. Rodney Terry IS the reason this team is playing so well, and he played a large role in assembling this team as well whether the naysayers want to admit it or not. Rodney Terry deserves this job, Rodney Terry will be our head coach after this tournament is over, and I believe Rodney Terry will find success here for years to come. Let’s keep it rolling🤘
