I played 7th grade football in Stamford in 1970. We were undefeated, 6-0. It was the first year Stamford started allowing 7th graders to play.
The reason we were undefeated was simple. His name was Don Earl. He was a RB.

The varsity made the playoffs, and Don, and I had Study Hall 7th period. Our 7th grade Coach came into Study Hall and got Don Earl on Monday. Coach had a pair of white practice pants over his shoulder and handed them to Don as he said, "come on". We found out later that Don was going to practice with the Varsity, for their Bi-District game. They put Don Earl at RB on the scout team against the starting defense. First play, they ran a sweep and Don Earl took it to the house against the Varsity, as a 7th grader.
