Sad to see that some person would hack another's account to possibly profit or just to get attention. I'm really glad no one was injured or a life was lost but if that is true and his account was truely hacked that means there is a truely sick individual out there preying on our accounts. I'm not sure how all that works but is Yahoo or Rivals responsible for this guys account being hacked or is it his own problem? Maybe That's why Verzion has started the new company Olathe for problems like this to waive the liability? The fact that any of our accounts could be hacked in here is scary. I'm just glad there was no life loss and no real monetary meaningful losses. Hope all that contributed get their money back soon and this never happens again, but unfortunately I'm sure it won't be the last time.

Read between the lines, there was no account hack.

because she rules and they are insanely popular programs that have been proven to work in Scandinavia where the people enjoy the highest quality of life on earth.
First of all, the only reason they "work in Scandinavia" is for several reasons that are the reason it works no where else. A) The population of Norway, Sweden, and Switzerland together is around 23 million people, less that Texas, Florida, and just over half of California's population. Norway, specifically, sits on an Oil Pension Fund worth over $1 trillion. All 3 country's tax their citizens at rates over 60%, and most north of 70% when accounting for all taxes. Highly taxed countries, with fairly tightly controlled immigration allow for more leeway. Even the poor in these countries are taxed at the same level for any income above 1.2 times the average pay. All of these countries are being severely tested by the influx of Muslim refugees, from stress on their ability to effectively care for these refugees, to the spike in crime traced mainly to the influx of these refugees. B) the military of the United States, or the forces of NATO are essentially who these countries count on to protect them. None of them contribute more than 2% of their GDP to the military.

In other words, you'd have to possess the mind of a small child to believe that what counts for socialism over there is what socialists in this country want. First of all, everyone over there is expected to work AND pay taxes, not get things for "free." Even their "free college" comes at a cost of up to 70% of their income. Finally, if you are okay putting your family of 4 or 5 up in a house somewhere between 880-1125 square feet, you will love living there.

I 100% agree with this. While I believe in prayer, this is not the place to come ask for it in my opinion. It clutters the board ...
On any given day (or EVERY given day), the board is ‘cluttered’ with things I personally care nothing about. Soccer, bourbon, little league, best place to eat in ———-. It’s ALL clutter to me and I don’t click on it.

And then comes an OT thread I find interesting. I hope OT threads certain posters aren’t interested in aren’t relegated to some obscure OT Forum. That’ll be the ruination of this board.

You are right. There are a lot of things that clutter this board. Like posts by people faking suicide and talking all kinds of shit that cannot be substantiated. True that one does not have I click. I just wanted to take the opportunity to back Jshorn on his absolutely correct opinion.

OK,

I'm pretty red faced but working with Fundly to return funds.

One thing I do want to share, I have had 3 OBs reach out to me today about family members that need help around the state.

Real, no bullshit cases of guys needing help plus a LEO who head a group called 3rd watch, called me (I had posted the link to fund raise online) about another vet who needs help.

But trying to make lemonaide of our lemons.

Don't sweat it.

I 100% agree with this. While I believe in prayer, this is not the place to come ask for it in my opinion. It clutters the board and puts sad shit on here that I honestly come here to get away from. I read the posts by hornfan65 and honestly felt like it was a cry for help from some one that needed some attention. When I read the post that said he actually went through with it I was way more than skeptical and ignored the fund entirely. This is an anonymous message board, folks. Nothing is real in the internet until it is reported by reliable sources.

That said, this board is full of great people and sometimes that gets taken advantage of with no need to apologize. Just teaches a lesson for next time.
You either have a mouse, mousepad or touch screen. Clicking a thread is still optional, I think. The board is "cluttered" with a ton of other OT shit, seems like you're gonna have to deal with it. It's pretty clear that this board has evolved and morphed, change is hard.

It can be difficult to find relevant football posts amongst the BS here. I guess things are changing, as I have been on here since almost day 1 and it has always been about the same. Just more people coming to a message board with personal shit because I guess their life is empty. It’s sad actually.

With farts, the denier is usually the supplier.
That seems to be the case here. The denier here is probably the supplier of fake messages that were posted from hornsfan65.

The whole point is it's about allowing people to connect with anonymity to others who actually do care, I agree with you, sometimes the personal details and calls for prayer aren't ideal in our normal life situations. But people are actually reaching out for help at least to offload some serious hard stuff going in their lives.

It's an outlet, if it inconveniences others for a bit so be it. I imagine it does a ton more good in their lives feeling the warmth from others at a low point in life. I myself am blessed with a great family for that, but I fully realize how special that is and plenty of others weren't so lucky. This place helps fill that void. The OB family is real and a great thing.

Is it? I find it sad, but I guess.

He was not hacked. He's lying.

Can someone please fill me in with the story. Have been in Africa for the past month so have only rarely looked at the board given data expenses

The anonymity allowed by the internet is one of the things that I hate most about it. It amplifies the amount of misdeeds that can be thrust upon good, unsuspecting people in so many ways. You almost have to turn down the humanity and amp up the cynicism to avoid being scorched, from time to time. Sucks.

True. You can trust someone but you would have to verify his or her words, especially on a community message board.

Well, I
My sincere apologies.
JMO, but you don't owe an apology to anyone. I realize that the buck stops with you, but the unfolding of events was to fast and furious for you to know what was actually going down.
Maybe this should be posted on the Main Board and those guys can track down the hacker.
You're a good man Ketch, and any "blame" should be shared equally by all of us.

It was the liar who isn't a veteran, didn't commit suicide, and doesn't have a wife named Mary or an 11 year old son.
Shite so this guy just made all this crap up for attention or was he working a money scam?

People are believing this hacking story? If so, he's been hacking this account for years.

My last post tonight.

I can't go into detail right now out of the respect of the dynamics involved, but serious compassion is needed right now.

If you guys never follow another request of mine, please consider this one - let the buzz of this situation die down. There are more important things that need to happen right now over giving this dude grief.

I'm involved. I'm doing what couldn't be done on Saturday night when it was needed (IMO). Let me take the lead and try to handle this in the best way I can. There are very real people involved in all of this and it's beyond complicated.

Good night and God bless.

Good job Ketch. Your a good man.

Well, I've officially had the one of the most surreal 24 hours of my life. Given that this is completely uncharted territory, I'm going to try to explain this situation via a short timeline of events.

* After the events from Saturday night and Sunday morning concerning the safety of the Orangebloods poster @hornsfan65, the Orangebloods staff spent the better part of Sunday and today working will law enforcement officials to confirm what had allegedly occurred on the message board. There wasn't a phone number listed in the user's contact information and none of the other listed information was current/correct, so initial efforts to provide both aid and confirmation were unsuccessful.

* By the end of this morning, we had very, very strong reasons to believe that the story that @hornsfan65 had told on the site had been untrue. Anwar Richardson led the investigation for us all day today and eventually confirmed through Amarillo police that @hornsfan65 was alive. The police had spoken with @hornsfan65 and that he confirmed that he was safe and claimed his account had been hacked over the weekend. While on a three-way call with Anwar and the police officer, we requested that the officer contact @hornsfan65 and ask if we could contact him.

* Less than an hour ago, Anwar and I spoke with @hornsfan65 over the phone. According to him, he has not used his Orangebloods account in quite a while and he can't explain how this situation occurred or who might have made the posts under his account if it wasn't him. Honestly, we asked a number of questions that he just didn't have answers for and it means that as of this very second, I can't fully explain situation this with complete detail, even if I have strong suspicions about what happened.

The best possible news is that we didn't lose an Orangebloods member this weekend in horrific fashion. I keep reminding myself that this is all that matters. I want to express to everyone that I made repeated attempts to check on his safety and state of mind, imploring with him to talk with us if he needed someone to talk to. However, he was quite insistent that he was in good health and of sound mind.

The bad news is that the a lot of people, including myself, were taken advantage of. All the members of this community wanted to do was be there for someone in a moment of need and that amazing amount of good faith was taken advantage of.

I don't know what else to say other than these three things:

1. Everyone who contributed to the fund that @echeese established in the last 24 hours will have their money refunded. I've told Chuck that I will work hand in hand in any capacity needed to make sure this is done in quick fashion.

2. There is still an active investigation about this on our end. I wouldn't normally write something before an investigation concludes, but this matter required urgent communication between myself and the board.

3. We will work to create a vetting process exists for any fund that is promoted on the site moving forward. We were all just trying to do the right thing, but in the future we're going to have to wait until situations are fully vetted before we support and allow for donations to take place.

A few people have told me that I don't have anything to be sorry about as it relates to all of this, but I don't believe that to be true. The buck stops with me and in retrospect, I would do things a little different today with the ability of a little hindsight.

My sincere apologies.

gk
Great job in stepping up.

Just read through this entire thread after being out for dinner. Just blown away. Wow.

Main Boarding this jackass.....

Something smelled fishy to me from the beginning but I dare not post it at the time.

I really had doubts when “his wife” started posting within hours of her husband offing himself.

Whoever did this is the worst type of person. Preying on other people’s good will and kind hearts.
