From a performance standpoint, the Toronto series was certainly a large step in the right direction. The Astros outscored the Jays 19-2, outhit them 35-9 and only trailed after 1 inning in the entire series. Unfortunately, that inning was the 9th inning of game therefore as dominant as our Stros were it only resulted in a 2-1 series win. Still, there were far more positives than negatives to take away from the series. And before we move on…

Now it’s on to Texas. And while the Rangers in general left a bad taste in our mouth last season, playing in Arlington should bring back nothing but positive memories.

All that’s old news now as it’s on to the 2024 campaign. While we’ve suffered a bit of bad luck combined with poor clutch hitting and bullpen performance, the underlying metrics look great at this point. As a team the Astros lead all of MLB in wRC+ at 154 (Braves are 2nd at 137) and team ERA is 6th best at 2.84.

Over the course of the next 10 games, we have 7 against our rivals from Arlington and that set of games will go a long way towards shaping the direction of the division race. This series will also be a big test of our starting pitching that is off to a very strong start this season. This will definitely be their toughest test of this early season.

We know this guy is ready...
