How old were when you acquired your first Texas Longhorn-relatedtoy, t-shirt, stuffed animal, etc.?
I was nine, and I'm sure it was unconventional. My oldest brother was in the Showband of the Southwest, and I was on my first Saturday visit to the band hall.
I was watching one of the drummers paint the block interlocking UT on his drum. He smiled at me, handed me a pair of drumsticks, flashed THE sign, and said, "Hook 'em!"
Damn right I was proud!
It was also the first of many times the great Vincent R. DiNino let me accompany the band through tunnel onto the field until big brother graduated.
