A few notes to pass along...

1. Former TCU defensive tackle Damonic Williams confirmed in a conversation with Oragebloods earlier today that everything is right on schedule with his official visit to Texas, which begins today.

2. Williams visited Oklahoma this weekend and communicated to everyone in Norman that he plans to take all of the visits that he has scheduled and that NIL will be central to his decision. Following the visit to Austin, Williams is scheduled to visit Missouri, Oregon and LSU. There has been some Texas A&M talk with Williams, but there are no plans to visit the Aggies... for now.

3. All of the schools that Williams intends to visit have the firepower to challenge Texas on the NIL front, so it goes without saying that this will probably be one of the more interesting battles involving NIL that Texas has been involved in over the course of the last few years. There might be a school or two in this bunch that might be motivated to use a "by any means needed" approach towards landing Williams and it'll be interesting to see if the Longhorns are as motivated as its competition for Williams.

4. Williams is seen as a major target in the Portal, a much bigger priority than UCLA's Jay Toia, who announced yesterday that he is returning to UCLA after visiting Texas this weekend. The decision by Toia to return to Westwood wasn't a shock because it was conveyed that Texas was sorting through its options and that Williams was ranked higher on UT's wish-list. If the Longhorns don't get Williams, letting Toia return to the Bruins will likely be seen as a risk that came with a cost because the Longhorns are desperate to add another defensive tackle through the Portal.

5. Bottom line - Williams is seen as a major piece of the Portal puzzle and has been made the priority. In having a preference among the players available, some risk fully exists.
