Tomorrow, May 11th, marks the anniversary of the death of Major Doug Zembiec. He was detailed to the CIA’s ground branch at the time of his death. While on a raid in Sadr City Iraq and was killed by small arms fire. He was a superb Marine and warrior. Fearless, aggressive and a superb athlete, he led by example and inspired all who knew him.
I had the honor of serving with him when he was one of my platoon commander when I commanded 2d Force Recon Company in the late 90s. Doug and others live on in spirit and I honor them every year with a post. If you have a minute say a prayer for Doug, his wife and daughter. Semper Fi Doug, you are not forgotten.
