So as of Episode IV it appears Vader and Leia had come into contact at least a few times. In fact a New Hope has them in a heated exchange to start the movie. Vader even has her tortured. They have more interaction in Empire Strikes Back. But by then Vader knows Luke is his son.
So how is it Vader could “feel” the connection with Luke, but not his own daughter — and Luke’s twin?!?! I think it’s one of the major inconsistencies in the entire story line.
