Texas and Michigan agree to football series location switch

The Wolverines will host the Longhorns at Michigan Stadium on Sept. 7, 2024, and the return visit to Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium is set for Sept. 11, 2027.

Austin – Texas and Michigan have mutually agreed on a location switch for the original contract of their home-and-home football series that was announced in 2014. The home team seasons will be flipped with the Wolverines now hosting the Longhorns at Michigan Stadium on Sept. 7, 2024, and the return visit to Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium set for Sept. 11, 2027.

The match-up brings together two of the winningest programs in NCAA history with Michigan ranking first in all-time wins with 989, while Texas is fifth with 936.

The lone previous meeting between the two schools came in the 2005 Rose Bowl following the 2004 season. The two storied programs created a classic as Texas prevailed, 38-37, on Dusty Mangum's 37-yard field goal as time expired. Vince Young accounted for 372 yards and five TDs, including 192 yards and four TDs on the ground, as the Longhorns won in their first BCS Bowl appearance to cap an 11-1 season.
