FINAL
Texas - 9
UTRGV - 17

Winning Pitcher: Francisco Hernandez (3-3)
Losing Pitcher: Jared Thomas (0-1)

RECAP

Gonna make this short and sweet.

Texas played like absolute dog shit tonight, in all facets.

Horns used 10 pitchers
253 total pitches
138 total strikes
11 hits
17 runs
17 earned runs
11 BB
11 K
9 hit batters

UTRGV score a run in the first 8 innings of the ball game, including a six spot in the 4th inning

Hitters went 10-36 with 15 K total

The only offense the Horns got on the evening occurred when Jared Thomas launched the first pitch he saw over the RF wall and then when David Pierce emptied the dugout to bring in freshman and transfers, taking out all of his starters except for Porter Brown and Jack O'Dowd.

BIG MOMENT

The moment that the Horns went to the bullpen in the Top 2nd, they were cooked. It was a down hill ride from then on out. The Horns pitching staff, even when they are throwing strikes continue to give up home runs to opposing teams at an alarming rate.

INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE

Gonna give this one to freshman Oliver Service who ended up 2-3 on the night with 3 RBI, a single and a double. Props to one of the nicest kids on the team.

TAKEAWAYS

What was an absolutely embarrassing performance by the Horns to the #294 RPI team in the nation, especially at home. This is the kind of performance that costs you your job and questions will certainly be asked about whether he has lost the team or not.

NEXT UP

Horns (22-16, 9-6 Big 12) will host TCU for a three game weekend series that will be absolutely pivotal and likely a defining moment for the season.
