ALWAYS WIN ON SUNDAY.
A new day and a new opportunity. The Horns have done the "hard" part, which is winning on Friday. Now, the Horns need to do the really hard part, which is complete the sweep. The Horns have been very good on Sundays, using its offense to help win Big 12 series, while getting enough out of the bullpen and rotation to see them across the line. Today is a very different story though as the Horns face a new task, handling success. For the first time this season in Big 12 play, the Horns are not fighting to survive or win a series, they are trying to sweep. That Texas arrogance and attitude needs to shine through and power the team, instead of the junkyard dog trying to survive.
In order to accomplish that, the offense needs to get going early to put pressure on the Pokes bullpen, but more importantly, the Horns need length from Lebarron Johnson Jr. That means limiting walks, limiting wild pitches, and eliminating those mistakes that are self-inflicted. Offensively, if the Horns are able to get a kill shot like the opportunity they had in the 1st inning yesterday, they must take advantage and not let the other team off the hook.
Current look at the Big 12 standings
With just Baylor and Cincinnati left on the schedule, hard to imagine the Sooners not taking the Big 12 regular season title at this juncture. Suddenly Texas Tech is going to be looking over their shoulder, especially with just Oklahoma State left. Thankfully for them, Baylor has both OU and UCF left. Regardless, with only 4 games separating the 5th place team from the 1st place team, the pecking order is going to shift over the course of the next two weekends.
