As Ketch just posted in an earlier thread, Cam Scott has been released from his national letter of intent.

Why is this so important?

At the guard position, Texas has a big question mark on it's hands. Yes they return Tyrese Hunter and Chendall Weaver, both of which have proven themselves as at least viable options at their respective positions. There is no definitive scoring option for the Longhorns moving forward. You already lost your twin headed scoring options in Dylan Disu and Max Abmas whom accounted for 32 PPG which you have to now replace. You also lost would-be sophomore and albeit, unproven Chris Johnson to the portal. So where does Texas turn in order to bolster themselves offensively? Well what makes the most sense is the transfer portal, which is somewhere Rodney Terry has found some success regardless of Abmas not playing to expectation. Is this going to be the single break fix moving forward for the program? We shall see.

I wouldn't hit the panic button just yet, but Texas has now fallen victim to three signees being let out of their NLI's in the last two seasons with Ronald Holland, Aj Johnson, and now Cam Scott. With young players being able to leave for the G-league straight out of high school, you have to wonder how Rodney Terry combats this in becoming a trend which one can argue, it already has. It's an issue that a lot of coaches from around the country that recruit at a high level are dealing with so it's not just Texas that has this problem.

It's time for the staff to war room on how to KEEP talent, how to FIND talent both on the recruiting trail and in the portal, and then finally how they can get NIL to play more of a part moving forward in getting some of these guys to stick.

On the bright side, stay tuned as the transfer portal is beginning to heat up....

I'll keep you posted.
