The liberals miss the point regarding religious freedom and why it's important to protect it. Whether or not an atheist, an agnostic, or a casual practicer of any religion understands or agrees is not the issue. The issue is whether a not a person is forced to violate his/her legitimate religious beliefs by the gov't.Like it or not, gay marriage proponents are going to be at odds with many Christians if for no other reason than The Bible does not condone homosexuality. I may not agree with the religious necessity of peyote with regard to Native Americans, the view that Jews or Muslims have regarding pork, or the sacred view of cows by Hindus, but it doesn't matter. The constitution promises that people will have the right to the freedom of religion. The RFRA simply allows that businesses can use religious objections as a defense. There is no guarantee that the judge or jury in a lawsuit will agree. The attack that Indiana and Arkansas has endured by people across the country is the exact reason that the RFRA is needed.
