Yeah, we're part of the chosen whose blood runs burnt orange;
Thank God we were born Texas Longhorns!

~~~~~~~ Django Walker
Lo and behold, the sun apparently intends to come up again this morning, and we are in fact still Longhorns. As many on OB have said these past few weeks, if we'd been offered a deal back in August that we'd beat Bama in Tusksarelooser, and be in the 4-team playoff, but you'll lose a stupid game to ou, we'd have taken that deal. You kidding me? With memories of 5-7 still in the rearview mirror? Yes we'd have taken that deal. This was a great season by any metric you can name.
That's the way with sports. It's an adversarial system for the most part; somebody wins, somebody loses. The Apostle Paul said as much in 2 Timothy 2:5 when he wrote that "...anyone who competes as an athlete does not receive the victor's crown except by competing according to the rules." He speaks openly about competition, and seems to assume that winning is a legitimate goal. Last night's loss still stinks, but it's not like we drew a mustache on the Mona Lisa. The Horns had a great season, one team out of four that were "the chosen." We'll do well to remember that this one game does not determine our worth nor define our joy, anymore than a single misstep in life changes our value in the eyes of our Creator. His Son's death ensures that.
Hook 'em!!!!!
NT
Col 3:3-4
In loving memory of a great Longhorn, Allen Jones.
