The whole notion of "letting go" consists of many variations on a common theme. It's not a bad notion at all, so long as we do not use it as a proxy for being irresponsible and knowingly making poor choices. Reserve that for Darwin Award winners. Remember that life is best understood looking backward, but life is lived by looking forward. Those in recovery learn to turn their lives over to their Higher Power as they learn to live a life free from the death-trap of addiction. We can all enjoy the fullness of life if we are grounded in a Faith that allows for mistakes but keeps us on a path that leads us toward new and enriching experiences.
