Never let your ego get in the way of asking for help when in desperate need. We have all been helped at some point in our lives.
~~~~~~~~ Edmond Mbiaka
Most of us have a great desire to be self-reliant, to do things ourselves. This seems to be especially true here in Texas. Our independent streak is way more than skin-deep, and makes us reluctant to ask for or rely on help from others. That's an admirable quality, until it gets in the way of real progress. Those in recovery find the strength to reach their full potential as members of a community, learning for perhaps the first time to ask for and accept real help, and to express genuine gratitude.
We can all learn from this model. As we continue to grow and develop in our lives, we will get help from others, and we'll help them too. We'll have ample reason and opportunity to express gratitude, as we realize that we're not in this deal alone, nor should we be. Right here at TG, for example, all of you help me more than you can possibly know. Every day. I cannot thank you enough.
Today, we pray for the good sense to share our own strength, and to appreciate the strength of others. Don't make this life harder than it needs to be.
Blessings,
NT
