Real friends are those who, when you've made a fool of yourself, don't think you've done a permanent job.
~~~~~~~~~~ Erwin Randall
The kind of people we want to be will go a long way toward determining the kinds of friendships we seek. If we want to feel sorry for ourselves, we'll choose friends who will gladly tell us how sorry their lives are. Misery loves [miserable] company. Or if we're insecure enough to enjoy putting others down, we'll associate with people who laugh at others' mistakes.
As I once heard a youth pastor tell a bunch of high school students, "Show me your friends; I'll show you your future." If we want to be the best we can be, we'll gravitate to friendships with people who can see the good in others, who encourage others, and will help us see the good in ourselves. Maybe they'll even help us work smarter and harder at things that are difficult for us.
For this day, how can I be that friend?
Grace and Peace as we start our work week,
NT
"Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another." Romans 12:10
