My son, William, turned 18-years-old in November 2023 - he is on the autism spectrum and won't live on his own or anything like that - While his mother and I aren't too worried that someone might sway him into making a bad decision (trust, medical, etc)...can't be too safe so a day after he turned 18 in Nov. we filed for Guardianship over him. Cut-and-dry right? You'd think...

Fast Forward to March and we know governmental things take time - so whatever - but now my insurance carrier, my bank, his doctor etc. are all saying "well he's now an adult so we can't give you that information..." Fine...HEY, I tell them...He's on the spectrum and so give me the info...of course they all want to see the court guardianship papers.

So I call the clerk....then I call the court...then I call the detective...then I call the case worker...who says "oh yeah, I've been busy...but he's next on my list" (yeah sure he was)

Case worker comes out and interviews me and William and reaches out to his mom and it's OBVIOUS he can't make decisions for himself and needs us to make them for him...NOW easy-peasy right? NOPE...case worker says "I won't be with the courts after next week bc they don't pay enough so you'll have to contact the future case worker..." And she doesn't know name or contact or anything for that future case worker.

AFTER the case worker comes to my house...AFTER I give case worker all documents and contacts and whatever she asked for...I get an official letter from the Probate Court #2 of Fort Worth telling me that I need to comply with this case worker (original person) and give her all documents and contacts....OF WHICH I ALREADY DID THAT...waste of postage I guess

Today is MAY...still waiting...total silence. I call the clerk...she puts me in touch with the WRONG court...I get in touch with the CORRECT court...well wouldn't you know it...the Guardianship Specialist for Court #2 has left for the day...I mean it was 3:17 PM after all

Now I get to call back tomorrow and go through this bullshit all over again...I'm not trying to be nefarious or anything...I am not doing anything that everyone already hasn't blessed and conferred that is the best decision for my son.

I can't get his shot chart or medical records that his summer camp (Charis Hills in Sunrise, TX - if you have child on spectrum - WELL WORTH IT!!!) - and on and on and on

UGH...don't even get me started with the MHMR and Medicaid and SSI and eligibility for residential housing...
