I'm a fan of math. Period. Math is GREAT. It got us to the moon. It built the atom bomb. Our financial markets are built upon it.

But these aren't robots on the field playing a game. They are kids. The human factor must come into play. Math can't calculate the human factor--- it can only report on results that have already occurred---- not predict future outcomes.

If math could correctly calculate outcomes of football games every single time, there'd be no Las Vegas.

Agreed with math not being able to calculate the human factor; however, studies show that teams that win the offensive efficiency battle on the field usually end up winning the game to a tune of 83% of the time. The calculation I'm narrowing down is the defensive efficiency rating. It's been a tough battle, but my numbers over the past year have suggested some interesting suggestions.

You're right...math is not the only logic. In my second to last paragraph, I stated exactly why a guy like Sam is starting and why he will be successful, based on his human factors. Here's the direct quote:

"Ehlinger’s ability to adlib and make plays when there seems to be a breakdown within the offense, is what is needed for this team to win, especially with the uncertainty of the Texas offensive line (in Herb Hand I trust)."
