Sooooooo it turns out that Lil Jordan Humphreys, Carter and Grey our TE, violated team rules and will be suspended for the bowl game.

Now basically, there's a dozen kids not playing in this bowl game. What in the absolute fvck is going on in austin? My guess is they failed an in house hippie lettuce test or............ somebody went out to the bar and didn't make it back in time for curfew.

I'm looking around the room and asking myself how badly this season has gone and what else can possibly go wrong.

Look for mizzu to run us off the field. Literally.

Perfect

Not uncommon to have a player or two get in trouble in the down time before the bowl game. Extra free time, other students/friends from other schools back in town..etc...nothing new just haven't been to a bowl in a while probably forgot:)

SMU had a graduate assistant calling plays the other night. We may need ours to actually suit up.

If your players are excited to be in the game, you'll win. The best team doesn't win bowl games, the team that cares wins.

Couldn't you say that about almost any competitive sporting event? Unless it's like the 1985 Bears vs. the 1978 Buccaneers? :)

This team is going to get embarrassed by Missouri. Silver lining however, good experience for the young guys and a taste of football in December. Hope isn’t lost for the program but for this season hope is lost. Thank goodness it’s the last game of the year. Not buying into the hype next year will be the biggest challenge for Texas fans.

Great so instead of 200 yards of offense, now we'll only be able to get 150.

I agree. Next year could be very bad especially if the offense can’t get to respectability.

Not buying the hype? What hype, at this point, is there to buy?

Agree. We are losing all the best players from this team. There isn't a lot of hype about next year other than just hoping that the OL will be a lot better and one of the QBs will be a lot better.

Yeah and it showed. That was an ugly performance.
Hueple leaving for UCF could help, not sure who will be running Mizzou offense.
I assume their associate HC and WR coach will probably be the guy. He’s been at Mizzou for 20 years. They’ll be prepared would be my guess.

I think the Horns are pulling the Tigers into their trap. How can Missouri lose this game? Exactly!

I think bowl games (particularly meh bowl games) are different. What other sport takes off a month before the final game? Kids get out of the routine and are more worried about next year or maybe the draft or for some real life after football.

Totally different for small schools pumped to be in the toilet bowl.

The crowd should be about 90% Longhorns but I'm guessing the stadium will be half full. Cheap tickets going for $16. You can get a really decent lower level seat for $84. The Rainman suites are under $500.

These players are spoiled brats man. It’s getting worse every year. Entitled assholes! Cheers to giving kids the opportunity to get an education and also to show their talents but nah let’s be selfish ****s.

Come on man. No matter how bad Texas is, fans always.... ALWAYS. Buy into the offseason and preseason hype. Trust me there will be people predicting a 9-10 win season. Herman was the cause for hype last season, the DBs in this recruiting class will be the cause for next seasons hype. You have the right idea. There is nothing to buy into right now. Better go into next season with lower expectations and be surprised instead of expecting so much and being disappointed....again.

@eda5420 bro, go back and look at my last four seasons worth of predictions. There's a hefty lott of men here that will tell you that for better or worse, I've been pretty much right on the money. My expectations have not only been mitigated, they've been realistic.

And seeing the lack of discipline leading into the bowl game confirmed by the number of players suspended through the bowl, the attrition of players transferring and players opting to go pro and not play, there's something not well happening in the locker room.

Look, you don't play the game of football at this level for snitz and giggle. You play because the men next to you need you to play. There's a man that I respect, even though he's an aggy, that not only was on a championship team at atm, but he was also a war hero in WWII. In point of fact he was a tank killer commander. He's (as far as I am aware) the only aggy to ever nominate another aggy for the medal of Honor, that was actually awarded. I dated his grand daughter years ago and she allowed me to read some of his writings.

He spoke of the bond between soldiers in combat. He also spoke about the only bond that he could ever compare that to--- the bond he felt with his teammates in college on the field of battle---- the football field.

Now I'm not equating the two, this decorated army captain was. But if these guys want to do stupid sh!t, get suspended or just choose to pass on going into combat with their brothers, that tells me they never really were brothers to begin with. That's not how you build a winning team. If you're hanging over a cliff holding onto a rope, there have to be 84 dudes that you know, that you trust, that will pull you back up.

We ain't got that.

Okay first of all I didn’t speak on the suspensions. I acknowledged them and stated that the young players will be getting good reps. Second of all I didn’t single you out as someone that buys into the hype. I said fans. Meaning group of people supporting Texas. Not you in particular. There are a lot of people that are realistic with predictions and that’s great. However you cannot seriously say that majority of Texas fans don’t buy into any hype. Congratulations on being on the money as you say but I guarantee expectations will be to high once again.

You are right. And it isn't just Texas, most fan bases are like that. We all believe the BS from spring ball and can't miss recruits. All smart fans should realize the worst place to get accurate information on your team is from homer interweb journalists. They are selling hope, and we all fall for it. I fall for it almost every year by August. Even though I know in March that a sh-tsandwich is on the way.

My family buys into it every year. Fans get excited. This spring Texas will look younger than they ever have. Especially with Herman saying the DBs in the class need to play immediately along with the offensive line recruits.

Turf toe my fvcking arse. You get turf toe on astro turf. He's out with a case of "agent-titous". Someone has convinced him he's going first round and he's buying into the bullsh!t.

But will the scrubs still be jumping up and down on the sidelines for kickoff?

While I think Mizzou will kill us, I also thought USC would, as well as OU, OSU, and thought we would beat Tech. In short, I have no clue what this team will do each each week. The off field BS is frustrating, but I'm willing to give Herman the benefit of the doubt for now. He's trying to get these kids to learn that it's his way or the highway. It's like raising kids, you have to stand your ground and follow through when you threaten to do something, or else it makes the process longer. If it continues next year and the year after then it's clearly Herman being unreasonable. I think he's being extra hard them his year on purpose.

There is nothing about "team" with this generation of me first athletes. Team and school are secondary.

Agreed. There's very few that play for the love of the game anymore. Gone are the days of teams keeping the core talent for more than a couple of consecutive seasons. Most decent athletes want to jump to the pro levels as soon as possible, even if another year of college would be hugely beneficial for their future. I understand the money is a big draw, but the money could potentially be even better for a lot of early draft entrants if they were to complete another year at the college level to hone their skills. But, it's a different time now, so gone are the college studs that actually play college ball as a senior.

Clob has been spot on as far as the players on our team. So with the level of selfishness rising in today's athlete, we need a staff that holds these guys accountable. While this year's results were less than stellar, I am more likely to blame the soft players rather than the staff. Belichick is coach asshole. Not many players like hanging around there but he gets results. TH has a bit of coach asshole in him and that is a good thing. If you come in soft and cry, then you are gone. We need that around here.

Next year, be better than this year. That's it. Don't expect more.

I gotta agree.

Clob has really been spot on about how good, or bad, this team is.

Sad to say there has been more bad than good, but you're right, be better next year.
