Not enough improvement as a team IMO. A team gives you the ball 4 times and still beats you and they are not world beaters themselves. Texas has top 10 recruits versus top 35 talent teams and all they can do is hang close and compete, not win or win big?

Texas should never hired Charlie he was using illegal recruits at Loserville and sleeping with the big money booster wives. He wasn't ready for a job as big as Texas and you see the results..Bye Bye Charlie=)roll

Classless post. BTW, Loserville is Louisville who has a Heisman candidate and is 8-1. They aren't doing much losing.

The improvement on defense since Charlie took over has been clear. Its a shame he didnt do it sooner. There is no reason why he cant be the head coach AND call the defense every week. The defense today played well enough to win. The offense had its moments, but when you have a true freshman center, true freshman QB, true freshmen WRs all over the field and mostly sophmores making plays for you, its tough to beat a more experienced, 7-1 team.

Strong may very well be gone after this year, but we didnt lose this game because of bad coaching. This team is getting better. If we finish 7-5 and then win a bowl game, he should be back.

I agree on the improvement. For me personally, this is a "no excuse" season. Freshman or sophomore doesn't matter to me this year. I just don't care why we lose-a loss is a loss. In addition, WV is a decent team. I don't consider it a shameful loss.

Not going for the TD was bad coaching. It cost us a chance to tie the game. At home, most powerful, punishing RB in college football. We also had nothing at stake, a minor bowl game at most. Lastly, our opponent is what average on D at most. All we needed was 2 yards

Yes----- we did. Where do these kids learn how to block on extra points or field goals? Their coach.

How many have been blocked this year?

When a team can't do something as simple as execute a routing FG without giving up multiple blocks...... THAT, my friend, is 100% coaching

sorry...but I consider this to be a rediculous post. Not going for it is bad coaching? That is just not smart football thinking. I was pissed about the situation, but because we intentionally ran time off the clock in case we did not make the first down, When we did make the first down we simply didnt have the time to put it in....at the time...5 seconds and 4th down....we HAD to kick.

The opponent's offenses are not as good as OU, TCU or OSU and he is running a 4 man DL, which he would not let Bedford run. They still don't tackle very well at all and can't stop the run. They are also playing safeties deep, which they didn't let Bedford do.

Have said before, I think the decision to fire Charlie was made after the Okie State Game. If he could have run the table he may have had a chance.

He has brought in some nice recruits, but during his time here I believe the BMD's don't think he is a championship level coach and the time to replace him is now. He's not all of a sudden going to become a coach that pays attention to the details that it takes to win championships, or is he suddenly going to become a good game day coach that knows how to manage the clock.

The only chance he has is who do you replace him with?

Ok so if we fire charlie and ATM fires sumlin, do we need to worry about a possible black lives matter rally????

Not going for a TD on 4th and 2, in the first half, is bad coaching? Youre out of your mind. Hindsight os 20/20 but it wasnt a given wed get it in, otherwise wed have done it.

Even with that blocked FG made, we still lose by a point. Yeah its a problem, but this is a better team than a month ago. Will it be enough by the end of the year? Maybe not.

but we could kick a field goal to win at the end

I said it at the time it was a mistake to not go for it. Then said it again in this thread. It's cool you disagree and are happy with a close, hard fought loss.

And we lost by 4! Gotta take chances to win.

Kicking the FG at the end of the first half was the correct call. They just couldn't score enough in the second half to get ahead. Credit WV for playing well on defense which they had all year. We lost a hard fought game. That is all.

If I may play devil's advocate for a minute, I think you're kidding yourselves if you think Strong is already gone. Texas would have to lose at Kansas next week and/or get blown out by TCU for that to happen. The fact that they've been close in every game makes replacing him controversial especially since ESPN still has a death grip on the national sports media narrative.

And it allows us to kick a fg at the end of the game for the win.

Well Ill get on the phone with Belmont and suggest they hire you. Obviously we would have scored a TD right there because you said so. And Im not ok with the loss, but your 20/20 hindsight doesnt mean anything.

ESPN has been losing revenue due to declining viewership to other networks. This year, ESPN has layed-off over 300 employees.

Our defense played well enough to win. That was about it. Our special teams were terrible. Our offense racked up 500 yards but turned it over.

Nope, it's a chance you take with the best RB in college football. Let me not interrupt you further, go back to waving your Charlie strong Pom poms

I agree he should be gone too, but 6-6 will bring him back.
It will take KU and TCU both to beat us for CS to go !

I do not understand this rationale. How in the name of Socrates scrotum does 6-6 save his job?

Hopefully Perrin learned his lesson with the baseball hire. Send out feelers to determine if there is actual interest in the job. The list should include 1a guys like John Harbaugh, Tomlin, Peyton, and Peterson. If those guys aren't interested I am not sure if the replacements would be better than strong.
