June 13th, 2010. Series tied at one a-piece with Brandon Workman and Chance Ruffin on the mound for Texas, the Frogs hit 4 home runs while Kyle Winkler threw 122 pitches in 7 2/3 innings of work and successfully held the Texas to zero runs. Texas was able to get one run back in the 9th but could not muster any more and what many consider the best team that Texas has fielded since 2009 when the Horns lost to LSU in the finals, had their season end in the Supers. According to most TCU fans, that is when baseball began as they dog piled on the Texas logo in center field.
This weekend does not have the same significance, but make no doubt about it. The Texas Longhorns MUST win 2 of 3 this weekend in Austin, a place in which the Frogs have not visited since 2018 due to scheduling and the aborted 2020 season. This is a must win series for Texas because they have already dropped a series to Tech. Also, as we saw last year, a series win over TCU provided the tie breaker between the two as the both ended up having 17-7 conference records last year. So this game will not send the other to the College World Series, but this series is massive for Texas with regards to the Big 12 conference race, RPI and post season rankings as the Horns chase a Top 8 seed.
