I’m listening right now and have no idea what hosts I’m listening to but they just said that if Jimbo takes the A&M job, the Fla. St. first choices at HC should be Strong or Manny Diaz?!?!? I about crashed my car laughing. They also speculated whether Sumlin and Jimbo would just switch schools. WTH? Appearently they were saying that Fla. St. needed to hire a minority coach and those would be their first choices. I would just want a coach who wins regardless of skin color

They're going to get Willie Ball or Justin Fuentes and it will be an upgrade.

Yes. Florida st basically said they will be looking to specifically hire a minority coach.

Look........... this is a slippery slope. And if you can't see that or just want to argue for the sake of hearing your head rattle, please don't. It's such a slippery slope that I'm not even going to engage you if you try.

Its a sad state of political correctness that has poisoned America today. Whoever is hired that a CFB or NFL team decides is best suited to run their football team should be hired based on qualifications alone and not their ethnicity.

I was really thinking they would target Scott Frost.

BTW, San Antonio sports radio is the worst in the country by far. Mike Taylor and Don Harris are awful.

Frost is ending up in nebraska. Book it, write down on blood, etch it in stone, mount it on your fireplace.

Scott Frost is already going to Nebraska, will be formally announced at some point following UCF's conference championship game which is tomorrow.

Mike Taylor is worse than awful. He drivels on for the whole two or 3 hours and never manages to bring anything sports related to the discussion.

Try having to listen to John Granato, Josh Innes and Seth Payne in Houston. All are annoying Yankees with zero sports talk ability.

In the Trenches on 790AM with ND Kalu and Greg Koch is by far the best sports talk show in Houston.

There is a minority hiring coaching problem in college and to a lesser extent these days pro football. I mean when you look at the fact that that a majority of the players are minorities, and a good percentage of Assistsnts are minorities but very few HCs at the D 1 level, and I do think it’s something ADs and admins need to work on this. With that said though going out of your way to say “we want to hire a minority coach” isn’t helpful. Willie Taggert happens to be a good coach and qualified for the job. That’s why he should be hired. Not because he’s a minority and you happened to be looking for one, but because of his qualifications.

The Rooney rule already guarantees a black an interview for every nfl head coaching job. They occupy less positions because they aren’t the best candidate in most cases.

But you don’t know that if you don’t interview them. The Steelers didn’t think they were gonna hire Mike Tomlin till he blew them away in the interview. Rooney rule isn’t perfect but overall is postive

The problem in college is many times it’s not really the school ADs and presidents pulling the strings. Many times it’s boosters, and in a lot of cases there really is no search process it’s pre determined where they are going.

Anyway I do think colleges should be doing a better job considering minorities but coming out and saying “we want a minority coach” isn’t helpful and really is a disservice.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to hire someone of color. I think Justin Fuente could be a home run hire for FSU.

I was purposely raised by my parents to not treat people differently based on race. How? This was not a topic in my house & I didn’t learn about race problems in America until I studied them in school. Sadly, I thought they were settled in the 1960’s. But, life has taught me otherwise. However, I refuse to poison to kids’ minds with hate & political correctness - to me they are almost equal.

I agree, but sadly some have turned just treating people the right way in to being “politically correct”. That isn’t the case. That’s whst we should expect.

What are you talking about? Surely you're not trying to make this some kind of racial thing. I'm sure not, if that's what you're insinuating. In my opinion, political correctness is wrong and should stop. Treat people fairly without that ridiculous nonsense.

I’m not trying to make “this” anything. I was simply replying to the thread that has messages speaking about targeting coaches based on race instead of talent.

Nothing more & nothing less - just gave my opinion - like others on this. I was raised that targeting anyone based on race is wrong. We are all equal.
