The series at Disch-Falk was a close one last year in which Texas won 4-3 in 11 innings on Friday, then won 11-6 on Saturday where they busted the game open late with 4 runs in the 8th, only to miss the sweep by losing 2-3 on Sunday after Nixon gave up an RBI single in the 9th inning.

The Texas Longhorn baseball team is in Arlington this weekend at Globe Life Field (yes the roof will be open tonight) to take on the their rivals from across the Red River, the Oklahoma Sooners. Texas comes into the game 8-8 over the last 16 and need to get back on track, especially when it comes to conference standings to keep pace with Tech and TCU. Tonight should be a pitching battle between two excellent left handers who have very different styles. Hansen is a softer throwing south paw who works on location while Bennet is going to attack and utilize his fastball to get ahead and then his curveball to finish a batter off. From an offensive stand point, Texas has a clear advantage, but if Oklahoma can get to the bullpen, it could spell trouble for Texas who has struggled in that capacity lately. Another advantage that Texas brings to the series is it's stellar defense, whereas the Sooners have definitely had their issues. Being a rivalry game though typically levels the proverbial playing field, so Texas will need to come out looking to create offense and take advantage of any opportunity it can get against Bennett.
