There are only 4 teams that have played opponents that have an overall winning record above .500 - Texas, Ohio State, Penn State, and Utah.
Of those 4 teams, only one team didn't get a win against an FCS opponent, Texas.
Only 3 teams in the top 25 have beaten a top 10 team, at the time. Texas, Ohio State, and FSU. Texas and Ohio State both won at the opponents' field while FSU beat LSU at a "neutral site" which was in played in Florida.
Ohio State won on a last-second play, while Texas won by 10 points.
Of all the teams in the top 10, Texas beat the highest-ranked team, at the time, #3 Alabama, at Alabama. Alabama is currently #12, the 2nd highest ranked team beat, behind #11 Notre Dame.
Take out what happened last year and just look at this year, up until now, it's clear that Texas is one of the top 2 teams playing currently given the factors listed above.
