Toppin's mom did not want to live in Lubbock (smart woman). That was the reason he was leaning Texas and the reason Tech folks had given up. Apparently, we had a house and other perks lined up but Tech always had a bigger cash offer. Tech insiders claim Toppin's agent wanted him at Tech (idk bout all that) and he does have stronger prior relationships with team and staff (that part I do believe)
Of course, take it with a grain of salt but it does sound to me like Texas took a pretty big swing (especially if the house piece is correct).
