A Thought on Texas’ NIL Strategy

It’s pretty obvious that Sark and Co. rarely make their best NIL offer during this time of year.

Knowing Texas has more NIL resources than just about any other program in the country, I’m wondering if part of the strategy may be to allow programs like OU (Fasusi) and Missouri (Rodgers) to land what they will now and continue to have to recruit and use up available NIL dollars on other players throughout the rest of the recruiting cycle. Then as signing day closes in and these programs are tapped out on NIL, Texas can come in with a better offer that they know won’t be matched.

It may not always work, but the staff seems comfortable with this approach. It might also explain why we heard Texas basically went all out for Moore with his NIL offer because Oregon is one of the few programs that can stand toe to toe with Texas on NIL and a last minute NIL offer likely wasn’t going to make a difference as Oregon would be able to match.
