I could see the AGGSYS getting rid of Sumlin for Hermann..I think someone is giving it some thought in AGGSYVILLE.

or on the other hand maybe OU would trade Stoops for Hermann

If they were struggling right now I could see your point. However, they are 4-0 with wins over 2 top 20 opponents. Sumlin probably needed 8 wins this year to keep his job. It certainly looks like he will get that and maybe more.

Tom Herman is the next big thing. There are going to be a lot of teams tempted to fire their coach to get him. But I don't think the timing will work out for it to be A&M (or Texas for that matter).

Sumlin isn't going anywhere unless they just collapse which I guess is possible. The whole Sumlin on the hot seat idea was kind of based on him being 2-2 right now (UCLA, and AUBURN or ARKY losses) but he's 4-0 with not exactly a gauntlet of an SEC schedule remaining. They could win 10 games this year.

For the first time he has a legit defense. The Alabama game may be a dog fight.

I could see Chavis coming to UT as defensive coordinator. He seems to be somewhat mercenary. I guess it all depends on what the head coaching situation is at the end of the year. He worked a miracle with a terrible defense in the span of a year. Totally shut down the Arkansas ground game.

Wow just dumb on so many levels. First he's not going anywhere, especially to Texas. And how do you define mercenary? He' at his 3rd school in close to 30 years. Not exactly a nomad.

Chavis is a good DC, no question, but the Aggies have real talent on their D-line and a secondary with some really good pieces. It's not like he's working with spare parts over there. We don't have anyone like their two DEs and Daylon.

Dumb? I didn't say nomad, I said mercenary. Someone who is motivated by money at the expense of allegiance or ethics. He jumped ship to an SEC rival and caused a contractual dispute. The A&M team to which he went had a terrible defense - as does UT. I am not saying he's unethical, but if you look at his coaching career, he's moved around some - so I'm not sure the allegiance is necessarily there. He'll be coaching against his alma mater this Saturday. That's also a coaching stop that he left for LSU. So I think that makes my initial statement somewhat valid and on point rather than dumb on so many levels.

(And he's at his 6th school since '79. One of which he went back to after a stint at another school.)
