I just got a text from Houston Westside DT Jordan Elliott indicating he will be in Austin this weekend for an official visit. Elliott, of course, is committed to Michigan but the Longhorns have really made a strong push of late.
Originally, we had been hearing through the grapevine that Elliott was likely to visit on January 29, but he will be in town this weekend.
This is obviously big news on several levels - he's a very good player at a need position. When we talked to Elliott in San Antonio during the week of the Army All American Bowl, he was pretty adamant that he was firmly committed to Michigan, but he did drop subtle hints that Texas could still be in play.
With Texas picking up momentum with a lot of its Houston-area targets, this one is trending the right direction for Texas. We'll see how the weekend goes and if it will be enough to put the Longhorns in a position to land him.
