LonghornFrenzy is a great twitter follow. He always posts aggy boards and highlights their meltdowns and delusions.
Herman didn’t get him last year. Not sure why they thought Jimbo would.
It is also delusional to think few would want to be a part of it and that everyone would want to be a part of the the Longhorns.
Chavis was supposed to be good too. That's the thing about paying so much for a coach that's new to a program. There is no certainty they will be as successful as they were at previous jobs. I understand paying the going rate for a top DC, but to go over and beyond is foolish. Give the guy the going rate as his first contract, and then if he does well give him the big payday. Going all or nothing is just too risky in today's CFB world. If a coach doesn't succeed within two years the fans are ready to move on to the next best thing. That's a bad spot for an administration to be in if they are locked into a giant contract with someone for multiple years.

He had all world defensive players at LSU. Covered up a lot of blemishes.
Chavis didn't face may spread up tempo offenses in the SEC. He had a pro style run the ball clock control offense. He had monsters on D. They were top 15 every year from 2010-2014. Go look at all the pro bowl talent on that side of the ball. In 2011 they had 8 of 11 defensive starters play in the NFL. He ran a lot of Cover 0 and Cover 4 which allowed him to turn some of those monsters loose. He didn't have any of that in aggy land.

To add to that, Chavis didn't recruit any of those guys at LSU. They fell into his lap from the efforts of the other coaches on the staff.
