... it's actually my first, too.
As we've done for the past three years, I'll post my final mock here which is to be judged by the HuddleReport.com among other invited participants.
I've put it off until 3 hours before deadline (midnight ET Wednesday) to avoid any swindles with trades. I'll answer questions about the mock after I'm done with it, but figured I'd post it here as I go.
1. Rams - Jared Goff, QB Cal
2. Eagles- Carson Wentz, QB NDSU
3. Chargers - Deforest Buckner, DE Oregon
- I've just heard it from someone I trust ... but understand this person could be getting fed smoke. If I miss on this, the whole rest of the Top 10 seems like it's toast.
4. Cowboys - Jalen Ramsey, CB FSU
- I've heard some people say they see this pick as being a "luxury," but it's still a pick I make - if the draft falls like this, I feel the discussion in the room will be between Ramsey and DE Joey Bosa.
5. Jaguars - Myles Jack, OLB UCLA
- They worked him out right after his medical re-check, sick player.
6. Ravens - Laremy Tunsil, OT Ole Miss
- Unbelievable athlete and best pick-up basketball player on the Ole Miss team. Easily the No.1 prospect on some draft boards in absence of possible character and/or injury concerns.
7. 49ers - Ronnie Stanley, OT Notre Dame
- Little tackle run here, I think Tunsil is 10X the athlete Stanley is, but I've heard all draft season that many are much higher on him than I am. I basically see a Jonathan Martin or maybe a Jonathan Martin-plus.
8. Browns - (I think they will move down, but I'll make the pick) Joey Bosa, DE Ohio State
- I think Miami will trade up for Ezekiel Elliott.
9. Bucs - Vernon Hargrevaes, CB UF
- Had him mocked here in my mind all along.
10. Giants - Leonard Floyd, DE Georgia
- Have heard all offseason that the Giants have been super interested in Floyd.
11. Bears - Shaq Lawson, EDGE Clemson
- Bears No. 1 need is a 3-4 DE and Lawson fits the profile of this sort of player perfectly.
12. Saints - Sheldon Rankins, DT Louisville
- A Charlie Strong 3-star recruit.
13. Dolphins - Ezekiel Elliott, RB OSU
- If they don't get him here, they'll trade up.
14. Raiders - Reggie Ragland, LB Bama
- dominating downhill mike is what the Raiders defense needs and Ragland, while not suited to play outside, could fill that role.
15. Titans - Taylor Decker, OT Ohio State
- Wingspan like a condor - time to get the OL completely sewn up with Lewan returning and all of the other investment that has gone into the group. The emphasis needs to be protecting Mariota and paving the way for Demarco Murray.
16. Lions - Josh Doctson, WR TCU
- I just can't see the best WR in the class falling much further. The Lions have Marvin Jones and I love Marvin Jones but he's not a No.1 WR in the NFL and neither is Golden Tate. Not only this, you swindle in-division foe Vikings badly by taking him.
17. Falcons - Darron Lee, LB OSU
- This dude is a burner sideline-to-sideline and to the flats. Huge need for the Falcons.
18. Colts - William Jackson, CB Houston
- Ryan Grigson with yet another questionable firs-round pick in Jackson who was taken to school by Cincy WR Chris Moore in 2015.
19. Bills - Jarran Reed, DT Bama
- I think he's going to be a better player than A'Shawn and so do a few other folks.
20. Jets - Kevin Dodd, DE Clemson
- I've just sort of seen this pick all along like I've seen Leonard Floyd to the Giants.
21. Redskins - A'Shawn Robinson, DT Bama
- DT their No. 1 need
22. Texans - Corey Coleman, WR Baylor
- I can't change my tune now.
23. Vikings - LaQuon Treadwell, WR Ole Miss
- They would have loved Doctson here, but Treadwell a fantastic consolation prize.
24. Bengals - Will Fuller, WR Notre Dame
- Have heard there have been whispers of this pick, but it could be smoke. Certainly need to create weapons outside of Eifert and AJ Green for Andy Dalton.
25. Steelers - Andrew Billings, DT Baylor
- They can't believe he fell in their laps.
26. Seahawks - Ryan Kelly, OC Bama
- One of the most elite athletes at the position I've ever seen. Just a model of balance and power, he's one of my Top 5 favorite players in this draft.
27. Green Bay - Noah Spence, DE Eastern Kentucky
- Ted Thompson dips back into the Senior Bowl bucket for the edge rusher he was hoping Datone Jones was going to be four years ago.
28. Chiefs - Eli Apple, CB OSU
- He's fallen too far.
29. Cardinals - Paxton Lynch, QB Memphis
- I asked Steve Keim at the combine when the time was to start preparing for life post Carson Palmer and he said that time was now.
30. Panthers - Artie Burns, CB Miami
- Heard buzz they like him, ball skills and ability to close like Josh Norman.
31. Broncos - Connor Cook, QB Michigan State
- Easy choice for Elway.
