A fascinating story a must read
Interesting read until it kicked me for not being a subscriber. Never underestimate someone no matter where they are in the social hierarchy. There's a guy on YouTube that learns new languages in a day or 2 then uses it with the locals. There's definitely a trick to it......that I obviously don't know.A fascinating story a must read
I don't know this man is gifted. He is a savant. He has these incredible gifts but had real problems in school. He's a little bit like the rainman character and that for all the things he couldn't do simple things like basic adding and subtracting. Btw rain man is based on a real life character. Savant's are fascinating people.Interesting read until it kicked me for not being a subscriber. Never underestimate someone no matter where they are in the social hierarchy. Dr. Ettlinger was chair of the math department for maybe 30 years. He was also one of the first football coaches in Austin and the first tenured Jewish prof. He was my mother's favorite prof. His son was a big autistic boy. Went to Rice, but couldn't finish a PhD because he couldn't do original work. He was very well known to the students of the 30s and 40s. He ended up as a chem instructor at Rice, living in his old undergraduate college there. He would get lost walking across campus and have to ask directions to his lab.Who's he?
