Not surprised about OSU.

19-14, 8-10 Big 12; RPI: 90; KenPom: 56; “Super Average”: 57.2; SOS: 53

History was the biggest factor working against the Cowboys, whose RPI was 20 places worse than 2016 Syracuse, which is the highest RPI number ever selected. And that’s too bad because a team that’s defeated Kansas twice, won at West Virginia and toppled Florida State in Sunrise, Fla. was certainly capable of winning a game or two in the NCAAs. However, inconsistency — evident in sweeps by Baylor, Kansas State and TCU — undercut the Cowboys’ case. Four non-conference games played against Division I’s bottom 50 also deflated Oklahoma State’s results-based metrics.

OU shouldn’t be in for sure. I know nothing about the teams that made. The Sooners fell apart the second half of the season.

Ok state should of been in over OU. If you want to argue neither should of made it I’d accept that, but if you had to choose one or the other to me it’s OSU and it’s not even close.

That’s right neither team belonged. Put some small school Cinderella’s in the tournament. I like following the underdog teams.

OU made it for one reason and one reason only..... the NBA. They have one of the top scoring players in college, the NBA demands scoring players...... dudes that put up points.

You throw this kid in the tourney, maybe he gets hot for a game or two and lights it up for 35 points, viewers come and watch, they fall in love with the kid, brooklyn drafts him..... and bow you have 150,000 more folks checking in on him on tbs on a Thursday night seeing how he's doing.......

Money..... follow it.

Funny, I wouldn't be in that number. I haven't watched an NBA game since Mark Aguirre played for the Mavericks. I think Dick Motta was the coach.

OSU over OU all day. While A&M metrics said we should be in if you take away our first 10 games we did nothing to warrant a spot either. I think it will be a short stay for most texas teams this year, unless Tech doesn't crap the bed as usual.

Tech will be a tough out due to their ability to defend. Given the short rest between games and the lack of scouting time for opponents Tech could be tough to beat. It also doesn't hurt having Keenan Evans on their team. Dude is good and as we Texas fans know, comes up big in the clutch. That is a good combo. Not saying they are going to win it all, but don't be surprised to see them in the Sweet 16

Neither OU nor OSU belong in the tournament . . . and neither does UT.

Oooops, I said a naughty. I'll go stand in the corner for an hour to make up for it.

(1) No, not surprised at all. OSU's non-conference SOS was abysmal. As for OU and their collapse over the second half of the season, the selection committee has made clear that they no longer weigh the last 10 games any differently than the rest (dumb, in my opinion), so it's not surprising at all that they would be picked over OSU. OU had a lot of Quadrant 1 wins and a respectable OOC SOS. OU being favored over OSU was completely foreseeable without any need to consider whether Trae Young tipped the scales in any way.

(2) No. Why would this be surprising? TCU is ranked 22nd in kenpom. They finished fifth in the most competitive conference in college basketball. No-brainer inclusion.

As more than likely the only alum of both OU and OSU on this board, I wouldn't have had a problem with OU or OSU not getting in. But I disagree with the argument that OSU deserved it over OU.

Too much recency bias thinking. Sure, how you played at the end should matter more than how a team does at the beginning of the year to some degree, but OSU wasn't some unbeatable team at the end either. They were 3-3 the last six games, 4-4 the last 8 games, and 5-5 the last ten games. They had some very good wins in there (#1 seed Kansas), so I'm not trying to knock them as horrible. But they were very inconsistent and weren't some type of over deserving team. Take OU out of the equation, can anyone really say OSU deserved to be in the tournament?

Only one team was ranked in the top four in the country in 2018. OU. Only one team was considered a #1 seed in 2018. OU. OU has a win over Kansas as well. OU has a win over OSU as well, and one of their losses was in OT at Stillwater. I know OU fell completely apart since then, but the tournament is about the entire year, not just he last ten or so games.

Just my humble opinion.
