As we near the 10% mark of the season, to say the Astros are scuffling is an understatement. Starting pitchers in 3 of the last 4 contests have given up 21 runs in roughly 3 innings of work. Jose Abreu and Jon Singleton are easily the 2 worst first baseman in the league. Alex Bregman, in a contract year, is off to a slow start which has some of the fan base wanting to trade him and start a "semi rebuild". Additionally, the Astros seem to be making baserunning and fielding errors that the fanbase is just not used to seeing.

On the bright side, Jose Altuve and Yordan Alvarez are super stars and producing as 2 top 5 or so hitters in the league as they have been for the past 3 years. Who would have thought that Ronel Blanco would throw 15 innings of 1 hit baseball. Will the league adjust to his added changeup? The usual rotation, outside of Hunter Brown, has been very solid.

Unfortunately, Texas is coming to town followed by Atlanta. While a little home cooking is usually just what the doctor ordered, the Astros are woeful at home in the last 30 some odd contests. It certainly feels like the next 6 games are going to be very important for the mental health of the fan base. Texas comes off a series loss to the A's and have their own injuries to their starting rotation and are missing Josh Jung for an extended period.

If this stretch of poor baseball had happened in the middle of the season, would this be as alarming?

Probable starters for the 3 game weekend series:

Friday: Dane Dunning 1-1 4.15 ERA v. JP France 0-1 4.76 ERA
Saturday: Andrew Heaney 0-2 7.56 ERA v. Ronel Blanco 2-0 0.00 ERA (Yes, 0.00 ERA...)
Sunday: Nathan Eovaldi 1-0 1.45 ERA v. Cristian Javier 1-0 1.10 ERA
