Well looks like I'm joining you all in being officially old. I've been having issues in lumbar area for better part of a year and a half now. Sometimes its fine, sometimes it gets so bad I can't walk for a few days.
Had an MRI last year with results: "Degenerative disc disease is seen within the lower lumbar spine at L4-5 and L5-S1 with a prominent central extrusion at L5-S1. There is associated narrowing of the spinal canal. There is neural foraminal narrowing bilaterally at the L4-5 and L5-S1 levels."
I get random pains in my hips, glutes, and pelvis as well which I'm sure are related.
Sort of thinking I need to try to do something about this. Friends of friends are trying to talk me into seeing a chiropractor.
Worthwhile? Or nonsense quacks and I should just go to a real doctor? And if so, what kind of doctor do I need?
UPDATE:
OK guys, lumbar mri among other things says
"central 6 mm disc extrusion at L5-S1 with bilateral S1 nerve impingement"
I've got a 3mm protrusion at l4/l5 but that seems milder.
Been doing physical therapy.. What's the prognosis for this type of thing? Should I just bite the bullet and start looking for back doctors or keep up the PT?
