we have the whiniest, most entitled fans in the college football universe. and sooo much jerking knees. do i have complaints about the year so far? sure. among them, watts is becoming that guy that's a good player that when something bad happens, he's somehow involved. tony jeffrey was that way with me. doesn't make him bad; just makes it my perception. another thing is bijan is a ticking time bomb that seems to tick-tick-tick way more than he goes off. is that a product of a, let's say developing offensive line? bad scheme (horizontal running games are just so bad to me, and stopping offenses is part of my actual job description-- "heck yeah run sideways, tuffy, how's 2nd and 12 work for ya?)? lack of vertical threat in the passing game keeping extra dudes near the LOS? i dunno. but seems like we we get 2,3,2,4,-1, FIFTY!!! anyway... on to my main point.

every one of you got on here and proclaimed before the season we would go 7-5,8-4ish, with few exceptions. not sure i posted my thoughts but i'm an optimist and i was in the 9-3 area. and yet a whooooole bunch of you get on here after a road loss to a, let's admit it, a rival, with our backup qb, and decide we need to start slitting throats at belmont. ::sigh:: i just want to point out that we are 3... THREE... plays that involve no talent advantage or disparity from being likely #3 in the nation and the toast of college football. 3 plays.

1)awful, awful non-safety call. i don't even need to list the opponent. i know things don't happen in a vacuum, but i think that safety call gives us the win.

2 and 3) 3rd and 23 and 3rd and 14 jumping offsides. everybody keeps talking bout "lack of killer instinct", etc., but it's these 2 plays that kept this game from being a 41-17 rear-kicking. just these two. this game should've been over by halftime, save for these TWO plays.

also note that some of our better teams have struggled in lubbock.

anyway, there are issues. i do see much improvement all across the board (except xavier's drops-- those are head-scratchers). i think 3 losses, as long as you get the correct tie-breakers, might get you to arlington. i believe if we get ewers back we will get better and better. and in the meantime i think card has shown the moxie to earn our respect. same with most of the team as a whole.

had to vent. let's try NOT running off coaches immediately. maybe it'll go better. especially when they have made lots of strides-- getting rid of turds, improving talent/depth, actually building an o-line, getting elite-level qbs to campus.

There's no reason we can't go 10/2.

My brother brought this up to me today. There's something on tv called Trojan war. It's about USC duh.

Anyway he talked about how Carroll and Sarkisian got off to the same start. SC was 6/6 Carroll's first year.

In year 2 SC was 2/2 but then they took off and finished 11/2. Sound familiar?

Just sayin

I get it.

But, there's many a slip twixt the cup and the lip.

And it feels like every time we slip, we spill hot coffee all over our Alexander Amosu Vanquish bespoke suit....

I'm right there with ya broseph. Excuses won't get us anywhere but in reality, injuries have hobbled us substantially.
As crazy talented as Bijan is, so far this year his production wouldn't crack my top 15 backs and that's a problem. Blocking, play calls, timing, vision, injury, coaching, who knows.... Something has got to give.

You're preaching to the choir man. I don't think people are factoring in how important losing our QB was to this team. I don't have a doubt in my mind that if Quinn stays healthy we are sitting at 4-0 and in the top 5 right now. I don't think there's a team on the schedule we can't beat, but it's just a matter of if we show up to play that day or not. I hate to say the game tomorrow is a make or break game, but it really is. A win tomorrow can get this team back on track and give them a little confidence heading into the RRS.

I'm still feeling pretty good about my 8-4 prediction. If somehow Quinn comes back tomorrow or next week I could also see us going on a run and finishing 9-3.

I have went back and rewatched that Tech game now twice. I hate to be one to blame coaches for losses but the more I watch the more I blame the coaches for that loss. Sark just went into a shell when we went up 31-17 and took his foot off the gas.

It's not the losses, it's what comes along with them. Sark will have hell holding on to this recruiting class if he doesn't turn it around and start looking like we have improved. The Quinn injury was a giant kick in the nuts.

They went 5-7 last year and everybody said the same thing throughout the season about the recruiting class. They still pulled in a top 5 class. It's 2 losses by a combined 4 points. No need to jump ship just yet.

Recruiting has changed. We have a kid that is very highly rated. He has committed to a...hmmm... certain school. Literally the day before he committed he was at summer workout wearing that school's obsession/ rivalry (even though they haven't played in over a decade) gear. I could tell you the story but I don't want to smear a really really good kid's name. Just know, recruiting is different. Remember, aggie got all those defensive linemen last year before they'd hired a defensive coordinator

If the NCAA were to investigate Aggy they’d find major violations. The only way those recruits would be enticed to go there is money. It’s obvious the school is coordinating with their boosters and recruits on who to target and how much to pay them. That’s against the rules. A coach or school rep can’t go to a recruit and ask “how much would it take?” That’s basically what is going on in Aggieland. They can’t have any involvement with NIL deals.

Wins and losses still matter.

Think of it in terms of an under the table "signing bonus". They refer to it as NIL but it is not NIL. NCAA won't do anything because they don't want political backlash.

I think Sark doesn't want to run his better plays when we have the lead late in the game. He doesn't want to put too much on tape for future opponents and thinks he can hold the lead by being vanilla the rest of the game. By the time he sees that's not going to work the other team has tied it or taken the lead and has the momentum. Sark can usually turn on the offense for that last drive when he needs it but by that time it is usually a coin flip of who will come out on top, and we've been losing the coin flips.

The problem is not Sark getting conservative with a lead. His QB is not seeing wide open receivers. (up 31-17 and wr's running wide open on multiple occasions)
Gotta be able to come off your primary read and have a enough "sack" to make certain throws under pressure.

Sark has been an OC for almost 2 decades. There's 100's of games he's called on tape. There isn't a play these DC's haven't seen. That's a bogus theory.

I think his mindset when he gets a 2 score lead is to run clock and try to protect the ball. Which is a good strategy, unless you're not a good run blocking team like we aren't now. Connor, Majors, and Hutson are a major liability in the interior of our offensive line which makes it hard for us to close games out on the ground. He just needs to stay aggressive.
