Best fried shrimp in Austin?

That Pappas family has a lot of legit restaurants. Their business model is based on location near major travel corridors but their restaurants are better than most give them credit for.
Anybody that says they don’t like the Pappas restaurants is just hating on a chain. All their stuff is good.

Quality seafood has the best seafood in town. Not sure about their fried shrimp, but maybe start there.

Second on this. Their fried shrimp is great. Everything they do is great.

Haven't been there in a while, but everything they do is solid!
Just drove by but it looks like they changed the name to "The Boat". Not sure if they changed ownership.

I heard the owners got divorced, hence the reason it's not Sam's Boat anymore.

It's not in Austin but Surf and Turf in Leander TX is very good. I grew up on Padre and can give it a high quality recommendation. It's not a fancy place however. Just a quality hole in the wall.

surf and turf has really excellent seafood. My favorite in Austin area.

Haven’t you heard that unfried, man made protein, is better for you?

Sea Island Shrimp House. Used to be one in Buda, but I think it closed. Now have to go to New Braunfels.

Pappas Bros. is outstanding and anyone that says Pappadeaux or Pappasito's aren't legit is full of it.

Been a few years but the Pappas Brothers Steak House in Dallas was great and nobody went there.... seems we had a full wait staff just to ourselves with really great food. Steaks were great!

I would like suggestions on the best fried shrimp in Austin. Preferably lightly battered. Thanks.
The new restaurant Plank at the domain is good. I did not have the fried shrimp but they are popular on yelp

I have had them and they were very mediocre and only came with a smoky cocktail sauce that was nasty. Prefer a beer batter and they use a cornmeal batter that was pretty meh. I do like cornmeal batter as well fwiw, just not Plank's.

Agree. Quality Seafood is the fresh "fish cutter" for the whole city and actually sends fresh fish back to Gulf Coast restaurants, the place many of the fish came from to begin with. They also receive fresh, never frozen, shipments from Alaska, as well as the Atlantic and Pacific coasts. The process all starts in the wee hours of the morning, every morning. The result is fresh fish for Austin restaurants, many other restaurants and, of course, Quality Seafood's own restaurant.

Dunno if they serve fried shrimp, but if Monger's does, they would certainly be worth a try. Great place.

There are no places in Austin that do great shrimp. You have to go to the coast to get that.

Redfin food trailer. Our company threw a bash before a while back. Several food trailers in the parking lot. So good i went back for seconds for the fried shrimp and french fries alone.

MATT'S EL RANCHO FRIED SHRIMP. TRUST ME ON THIS ONE. NOTHING CLOSE!

I'll also recommend Cypress Creek for shrimp and oysters.

Also agree with Cherry Creek Catfish.

We went to Sawyer and Co. a couple weeks ago and the food was excellent but we didn't try the fried shrimp. It looks good , though. Anyone have it yet?
