OU president David Boren announced the Big 12 stay at 10 members on Monday afternoon.

As Geoff Ketchum previously reported, the odds of conference expansion were pretty slim, even if there were practical reasons to add more teams. Several outlets reported expansion was off the table prior to Monday's announcement.

Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby and Boren said each member school was satisfied with the current setup. They said there were quality schools that wanted to join the Big 12, but the league was unanimously against expansion. In addition, Bowlsby said decision against expansion had little to do with the strengths or weaknesses of the candidates, but more a defense of round-robin model.

In addition, Boren said the league has decided against Big 12 television network, mainly because the market has dictated that to them. Boren also said there have not been any discussions about what will occur when the current Grant of Rights expires, but does not believe any school wants to leave the league.

Looks like the Big 12 will focus on having a championship in football game for now.
