Bijan Definitely Back for 2022

I’m not sure why this was even a question. He wasn’t going to sit out the entire year, I guess he could of transfered but why for just a year?

Wasn't a question, just posted information I was reading because that's what this board is for I thought?

That wasn’t directed toward you. The info came about because Bijan was asked by the media today. I was just surprised it was in doubt

I don't think Bijan is that type of kid.
Yeah, and now that he’s made such a firm statement it would look pretty bad if he wasn’t bad.

as crazy as it sounds though even if he didn’t come back Texas would still be in good shape at running back. The other Robinson and Johnothan Brooks would start for most teams.

Its easy to say right now that he'll be back. But what if Sark gets let go following a 7 game losing streak? If Sark doesn't go, are all the coaches staying too? Any significant changes like that could change his position. I'd expect him back as he's not yet eligible for the draft, but as someone else posted above, its a long ways to August 2022.

There isn't going to be any changes to this staff this season. It's only year 1. You can't start making changes and expect to pull in a decent recruiting class, just not going to happen.

Yep. One of the reasons we have struggled for the last decade has been because of constant turnover in the staff and at the head coaching spot. Stay with a staff for a time, and let them build something

I wouldn't come back.

We are losing at least 40% of an atrocious oline. If something doesn't change, he's going to be in for a long season.

Losing 40% of our OL might be the best thing that happens this off-season lol

he really doesn’t have a choice but to come back. He could transfer but sitting out isn’t really an option. It’s one thing to sit out a bowl game, but come draft time you don’t want to be the guy who hasn’t played a down of football in over a year.

Not sure why think that Bijan "doesn't have a choice but to come back". He can hit the portal and go anywhere he wants to and play immediately if he chooses to do that.

I don't know. Sitting out 2020 didn't seem to hurt Micah Parsons too much. And there were a handful of other players who skipped 2020 and still heard their names called in last year's draft. Add in that he's a RB, skipping a year simply results in 1 year less of tread off the tires (so to speak). Its not like he has to come back to try to make a name for himself or prove his ability. So while I wouldn't think he'd skip next season, I certainly wouldn't rule it out entirely.

Bijan has three choices - stay and play at Texas for one more year, hit the portal and play somewhere else immediately, or sit out next year and wait on the 2023 draft. I don't think that there is much of a chance of him sitting out next year knowing the kind of guy that he is.

Like I said he could transfer but he seemingly likes Texas so why do that for a year when you could just as well play the year out at UT?

I don’t think we’ve reached the point in college football where guys are transferring because the team is losing, and they want to go play for a winning team. We may get there at some point but we aren’t there yet. Guys transfer for the most part because of disagreements with the coach, new coach at the program, or playing time.

Hey may well stay at Texas, but absolutely players will be leaving teams if they're not winning, they don't like the coaches and culture there, in addition to not getting enough playing time. Don't think this doesn't come into play. It absolutely does. This is the me-first generation with players.

I think you could see that more if/when the playoff expands, and more teams have a more realistic shot at making the playoffs. Then I think you could see more kids transfer out of losing programs and try to hook on to teams that have a shot.

Why?

The guys we have on campus couldn't beat out those guys.

Just getting Devon Campbell is going to be a big step in shoring up this offensive line. We seem to be a pretty heavy favorite for him.

I would imagine at least 3 of the 5 2022 starters on the OL aren’t currently on campus

Well I would say that until I see 5 guys in an actual game that can work together as a competent unit, we should not expect massive improvement.

Just have to hope Sark can do some work in the transfer portal and work some magic with Campbell and possibly Agbo or Dewberry.

Those coaches have sat down with Bijan, Worthy, Rochon, et al. and told them the plan. Players on the level of BJ Foster will be told to transfer. They will remove the most lethal cancers from the locker room (wish it could be boosters too) and they will bring in the guys they know work for their system. I feel like there is a working plan that they know will happen.
Until I see something to the opposite, I believe we will be ok and see much better effort and total team success very soon.

One of our own OL just posted a letter saying he had better coaching in this one year than all his years on the 40 acres. That says a lot.

If you look at the big picture and as bad as it seemed this season was, we had the lead in the 4th quarter against the top 3 teams in the conference. That was the difference this year from being 8-4 to 5-7 like we finished. I'm still somewhat optimistic for the future with this staff.
