OB has confirmed with multiples sources that Texas wide receivers coach Jay Norvell is expected to take a coaching position at Arizona State.

Norvell interviewed with Arizona State shortly after the season ended for the team's vacant offensive coordinator position, but ASU hired Chip Lindsey. I'm still gathering information on what position Norvell will fill for ASU, but three different sources have indicated he is leaving the UT program and has informed the team. The early word I'm hearing is Norvell will coach wide receivers and possibly be named passing game coordinator.

We've mentioned this name for a couple months now, but keep an eye on Utah State assistant Luke Wells as a guy Texas could possibly target.

Norvell was brought in as the Texas wide receivers coach almost exactly a year ago. He was promoted to offensive play caller after Shawn Watson was demoted following the Notre Dame loss.

Norvell's departure leaves Texas with three open assistant coaching positions. Running backs coach Tommie Robinson left to take a job at Southern Cal and Texas parted ways with defensive backs coach Chris Vaughn earlier on Thursday evening.
