My Man! Tear that ass up!

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Washington State coach Mike Leach has never been one to hold his thoughts.

After two tough losses, including a 38-13 thrashing by No. 19 Utah on Saturday night, Leach let loose on his feelings about his team and its performances, describing the Cougars as "fat, dumb, happy, and entitled."

Washington State entered its conference game against the Utes (4-1 overall, 1-1 Pac-12) as the No. 1 passing team in the country. After WSU failed to play like a No. 1-ranked passing team, Leach said the Cougars (3-2, 0-2) believed they were better than they actually are.

"We're a very soft team," Leach said. "We get a lot of good press. We like to read it a lot. We like to pat ourselves on the back and if we get any resistance, we fold."

The postgame outburst was similar to the last time his Cougars lost to Utah in 2012. WSU lost 49-6 that day and Leach sent his entire offensive line to the postgame press conference to answer questions.

He wasn't any kinder this time around.

"I think we've got a bunch of free agents running around there that think they're pretty special and then as soon as something doesn't go their way, they want to pout," Leach said.

A week ago, WSU disintegrated in a 67-63 loss to UCLA in which they squandered a 32-point, third-quarter lead. On Saturday, the Cougars surrendered 526 yards to a Utah team that didn't even throw a pass in the fourth quarter.

"We weren't even close," Leach said. "I think that at some point they have to embrace the effort themselves."

Damn, that’s pretty harsh, Mike!

Who’s the head coach of that team again? Whoever it is, someone should give that guy an ass-chewing too.

Its not as bad as having guns in the locker room and people sitting on the bench who don't even wanna play, but, keep their Apts and Scholarships right BBR? You fail to get Leach;s point of what he doing, he's challenging the players to play better and be better

Leach needs to man up and take responsibility for the losses. He's the head coach and he's accountable. The AD of WSU should call him out like he's called his players out.

Well, at least he didn't call out their fat little girlfriends.

I mean if he’s not doing his job then yeah, call him out. But he’s at Wash St.

That's my whole point. Leach hasn't done his job and hasn't had his players prepared to play, and that's on him. He hasn't done his job, and he should be held accountable.

FB I'm honestly asking you why do you like Mike Leach? I'm sure you've noticed I don't agree with you on the man. Is he angling towards getting fired? The man's career shows no conference titles, only a handful of AA's, and a combined w/l record of 5/15 against TX and OK. But WSU was 11/2 last year? For the last few years they haven't played even 1 P5 in non con play. I think he needs to step down after this season. He's had time in the limelight.

The only thing I like about him is his sense of Humor, nothing else, he's a strange guy, I try to figure him out and can't, he supposed to maybe the best in the Air Raid, but, I haven't seen that, I do know his QB do throw for thousands a yards, but, it gets the team nowhere, just like Tech, or maybe he has got to the point of not giving a shit after all these non fruitful yrs, But, his sense of humor ya can't beat...he wide open I guess..

I don't think it is ALWAYS the coach. I can't stand that shit. Sometimes you just have a shitty locker room and no leadership. Sometimes you just have a weak group of players that aren't very mentally tough. Like Leach or not, he has a long track record of being very successful at places that aren't used to much success.

However, in college you are responsible for who you recruit and what you bring in to the locker room. So if you're unhappy with some players and their commitment then remove them.

I agree that it's not always the coach. However, what is BS is Leach throwing his players under the bus and taking zero accountability for things. That's an ego issue.

Culture takes time to develop and change but once you get through a full recruiting cycle (4-5 years) the culture is 90% based on the coach. With a new coach you can struggle through a few years with upper class men that you didn't recruit and might not buy in but Leach has been there since 2012. If he has out of shape players with bad attitudes, that is on him, the coaching staff and the S&C coaches. He recruited those players and has had time to develop them as he sees fit.

BTW, I am a big fan of the culture that Herman has instilled in Austin. There was some initial growing pains in year 1 but things improved last year and he basically has a player led program at this point which is ideal.

I agree, and touched on this exact point in the post you quoted.

And we will love him if he beats Ou! and if not well....I think he's a fantastic Recruiter and Motivator, but, his play calling sucks, hopefully he will get better.....
