Cam Ridley

Great news.

"Basketball activities"?

Yesterday, in Sunday's Statesman, they interviewed Cam. He said that he was being really cautious, and making sure to follow all the rules. He didn't want to risk his future. The upshot was -- who knows when the doc will say it's ok...

So this is a pleasant surprise. Thanks for passin' it on.

Great news. I'm still going to temper my expectations a bit. I don't think we'll see the pre-injury Cam again, as he won't have the conditioning to play as many minutes as he did before. But having the pre-injury Cam for even 12-15 minutes a game could be big for this team.

I think you'll see Shaka play offense and defense as much as he can. Offense is prince weakness cam can make up for that.

I'm not so sure Cam will be a threat from the low post. He seems like a guy that needs a lot of repetition to stay effective. I think we'll see him play the same role as Ibeh and Cleare on offense. There's no time to retool. He'll post up a little but he'll also step out and set picks and keep the flow of our offense intact and just work the glass and look for dump offs. I can't see him playing any more than 8 or 10 minutes.
Defensively is where I see the big upgrade. The simple fact we get 5 more fouls at the center position is HUGE. No more Lammert at the 5... hopefully ever. He's so much more effective playing alongside a center.
If Cam can get the same touches Cleare's been getting and defend at 70% of Ibeh's efforts I think we have upgraded the team without too much drama.

Something to ponder. If Ridley was out for the year would Taylor even be playing the conference tourney? Or would we buying him another full week of rest.
